Portland Rioters Set Fire to City Hall in Third Night of 'Marches of Terror'

On Thursday night, rioters in Portland, Ore., targeted a city councilor at his home for his “No” vote on defunding the police, before setting fire to Portland City Hall. This continues marches that have taken a starkly more violent turn since the fatal police shooting of a black man in Vancouver, Wash., last week, and the three nights since Election Day. The riots have ratcheted up the amount of violence, destruction, intimidation, and lawlessness, even as Portland and the governor increase their police response.

A march started Thursday night in North Portland that eventually made its way to the home of City Commissioner Dan Ryan, newly elected in a special election over the summer. He voted “no” earlier in the day on a measure to remove an additional $18 million from police funding, making himself a target of antifa and BLM as the swing vote on the city council. The rioters broke a window at Ryan’s house, threw paint-filled balloons, and threw a lit flare at the home. Luckily, it did not cause a fire.

Portland city commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty has spearheaded the movement to defund the police, and has even demanded that vichy “mayor” Ted Wheeler hand her control of the police bureau.

So imagine the surprise when Hardesty called the police in neighboring Clark County, Washington, during a Lyft ride home from a casino. Her Majesty was not content with the Lyft driver following company protocols and leaving the windows cracked a little bit. Evidently Her Highness started throwing a temper tantrum, and the Lyft driver pulled off at a gas station and ended the ride.

Hardesty refused to get out of his car.

Both parties ended up placing calls to the police.  ...

Antifa attack forces Portland church to close shelter, suspend homeless services

A group of more than 100 black-clad rioters vandalized a Catholic church in Portland, Oregon, that regularly serves meals and provides shelter to the homeless, forcing the church to suspend worship services and all of its outreach to the needy.

St. Andre Bassette Church in downtown Portland, which is known for helping disadvantaged people in the area, suffered extensive damage after the violent attack Wednesday, The Post Millennial reported.

Three of the church’s front windows were smashed, after which all of its hospitality services had to be suspended, the news site said, adding that the National Guard had to be called in to control the rioters.

“Surveillance video shows a crowd of protesters, all wearing black, march past Saint Andre Bessette Church on West Burnside Street when one person rushes up to a door and repeatedly hits the glass with what appears to be a hammer,” KOIN 6 reported. “A homeless person sleeping on the doorstep hurries away as the glass shatters.”

The video also shows that after the homeless man was forced to flee, rioters stole his blanket and the few worldly possessions he had lying next to him.

In the evening hours of November 20, 2020, two groups gathered separately in the city with the intent to engage in criminal behavior. The groups vandalized and destroyed private property in both Downtown and Northeast Portland.

Around 8:45 p.m., a group of nearly 30 people gathered in the South Park blocks before walking to the Mexican Consulate located in the 1300 block of Southwest 12th Avenue. Those in the group were dressed in all black and seen wearing helmets and carrying umbrellas. As the group arrived at the Mexican Consulate, they vandalized the building by spray painting it. After the group spray painted the Mexican Consulate, they headed toward the new Multnomah County Courthouse located in the 1200 block of Southwest 1st Avenue where they began to apply graffiti to the building.

Officers responded to the scene and were able to interrupt the vandalism. Units remained at the location as high visibility. Because of the high visibility, the group dispersed from the area without creating anymore damage. No arrests were made.

At around 9:15 p.m., a group of nearly 100 gathered in Northeast Portland around Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast 52nd Avenue. The group was described as wearing all black, with masks and helmets on. A 911 call came in when the group began destroying a bank located in the 4300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. A cleaning crew who was inside the bank was scared as the group began to break windows to the property. Another call came in from workers inside a grocery store located in the 4300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. The workers reported members of the group were shattering windows and spray painting the building.

Officers arrived in the area and observed several businesses with shattered windows and spray paint covering buildings. One business in particular appeared to have been destroyed when members of the group threw a motorized scooter through the glass windows. As officers arrived on scene, the group had dispersed on their own and no arrests were made.

At least 24 businesses were reported vandalized on Northeast Sandy Boulevard. ...

Is there any doubt the police would be ordered to arrest the vigilante groups and that charges would be proffered, bonds set ridiculously high, and the vigilantes incarcerated interminably awaiting arraignment?
The local politicians have come down heavily on the side of the "protesters" and against the rule of law, so the big step would be to drag them out in the streets and depose them, as 'banana republic' as that sounds. With little doubt, those same politicians are well protected by security cordons, and such an attempt would get nasty, fast, something the average person is not equipped to do, mentally or otherwise.
This is the most compelling reason I can think of that the People, who have been conditioned by city living would not take matters into their own hands.

Why would anyone be surprised by this,when the po-po sat around and watched them vandalize a police station?

The primary job of the police is to make sure they don't get fired,and they don't get fired if they protect the people who approve their paychecks,and they don't defy orders from them to stand down and allow riots in the streets.

The ONE thing you can be assured of is that there will be no riots or fires set to burn down houses on streets where city council members or their relatives live.
