Here’s the Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt, which was stolen from the @OrHist last night. Was made by 15 local Black women (ahead of the Bicentennial). Museum exec director says @PortlandPolice found it blocks away, wet. Has bleeding & a small tear.

Preserving History: Caring for the Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt

The Oregon Historical Society (OHS) is proud to collaborate with Portland Textile Month to display and celebrate the Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt during the month of October 2020. The textile dates to 1974, when Jeanette Gates formed a group of fifteen women to sew a quilt honoring the heritage and contributions of the Black community in U.S. history, along with co-chairs Mildred Reynolds and Hazel Whitlow. Gates and other Black women from Portland worked over the following two years, to coincide with the United States Bicentennial in 1976, to create a quilt of thirty fabric squares honoring prominent individuals or moments in history. The quilt then traveled around the country and was eventually exhibited at and donated to the Oregon Historical Society. Since its creation, this quilt has remained in high demand for display. Immediately after the quilt was first shown at OHS in 1976, it went on tour, being exhibited at the U.S. Department of State, the Smithsonian, and the W.E.B. DuBois Institute at Harvard University. When it returned to OHS in 1979, the quilt was displayed again to coincide with the Rose Festival that year.

The quilt was featured in the Political and Campaign Quilt Show at the Kentucky History Museum in 1984. In 1989, the quilt went on national tour again as an integral part of the exhibit Stitching Memories: African-American Story Quilts, developed by William College Museum of Art in Williamstown, Massachusetts. This exhibit, highlighting narrative quilting in the African American tradition, traveled to New York, California, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and back to New York, reaching audiences from coast to coast.

Textiles are particularly vulnerable to damage, and balancing object care with display and education is paramount. Exhibiting the Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt exposes the quilt to dangers such as improper handling, incorrect temperature and humidity, security concerns, and light damage. OHS policies are in place to ensure that institutions that borrow objects for exhibit demonstrate their ability to safeguard the objects and mitigate the potential for damage. Requirements for borrowing institutions include: specialized handling; restrictions on exhibition time; security; insurance; and providing acceptable light, temperature, and humidity levels. Borrowing museums also complete condition reports for the quilt as it arrives and departs.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler on Monday said authorities will soon announce a plan for dealing with possible civil unrest on election night.

Wheeler, speaking during a news conference at City Hall, said local, state and federal authorities have been working to establish a mutual aid agreement to address potential violence or disruptions on election night, which is a week from Tuesday.

Wheeler did not divulge specifics but said federal deputization of officers, crowd dispersal techniques and the roles of various law enforcement agencies are among the topics that have been discussed.  ...

“The governor has put some asks on the table, I’ve put some asks on the table, the federal government will undoubtedly put some asks on the table,” Wheeler said.

For example: Wheeler said Gov. Kate Brown and the Oregon State Police are unwilling to have their troopers help police Portland protests if they’re not allowed to potentially deploy CS gas, a kind of tear gas Wheeler has banned.  ...

Nah, this is all part of the plan to have the storm clouds vanish, the fires go out, peace on Earth, yadda, yadda, yadda, the second a democrat gets elected.  One of Biden's selling points (if you want to call it that) is that all the nasty stuff will stop if he is elected.
Which, of course, means the Dems are in control of the nasty stuff...

The rioting began with the death of a black man.  Democrats and antifa threw gas on the fire and magnified racial tensions to further increase the situations to full scale rioting.  Antifa and democrats screamed white privilege, but take note; It was, in many instances children of the rich, white privilege that were leading the rioting carnage as note Clara Kraebber was found to be.  A very privileged white girl that took part in rioting and massive city damage.  Looking at the rioting, it is easy to see most of the leaders are radical whites, and when they get accosted, they get set free immediately by high priced lawyers.  Somehow it gets little notice that the antifa rioting is supposed to be because of concern for blacks, except since the rioting began more and more blacks have bee killed/murdered.  Like its really like  a clan rally in the midst of our cities.  Many of the rioters were college campus students encouraged by educators to join the fun.  Even officials have been caught committing rioting crimes like an attorney fire bombing a police car.  This is about tear the Country down socialists.  Expect more of the same if democrats win this coming election, and gun confiscation too, as well as massive hikes in taxes.

What *I* expect is to see a MASSIVE increase in the number of white radicals shot down in the street,starting on the first day they move their "act" out of their "safe places" in leftist-governed and populated areas,and into the south.

Which means it won't last long because without the white globalist leadership and money,in addition to "living expenses" and "free lawyers" when they get arrested,the blacks will stay home. ESPECIALLY the radical blacks who KNOW they stand out in a crowd of white fascist rioters,and will likely be pushed to the front to provide cover for the white trust fund children.

I tell you true when I tell you if they come into my yard with rioting and burning on their minds,it will require dump trucks to take the bodies away,and I suspect I am just a speck "on the board" if they are foolish enough to do this.

Also,they can forget about the NG protecting them. The majority of the people in the NG are white and black middle-class people who have zero sympathy for the left to start with,and less than zero when they start attacking the neighborhoods were they and their parents live.

Essential to provocation has been the media who mischaracterized events, failed to publicize the actual occurrences and faults, and fomented hatred and aggression. Without the constant stream of agitation, much of this would have died out with a few liquor and department stores looted and a couple of police cars burned. Instead, the MSM have done all they can to keep the lies alive and cover for the destructive actions of the rioters with their own lies and omissions.

Tensions flare after Black man killed by police near Portland

Clashes among protesters erupted late Friday evening following a vigil held for a Black man shot and killed by police Thursday in a city near Portland, Ore.

According to The Associated Press, hundreds of people had gathered for a vigil in Hazel Dell, an unincorporated area of Vancouver, Wash., where family and friends say Kevin Peterson Jr., 21, was shot Thursday night.

Clark County Sheriff Chuck Atkins said in a statement Friday that a joint city-county narcotics task force was conducting an investigation in the city located about 12 miles north of Portland Thursday evening, which led to the chase of a man into the parking lot of a bank.

According to Atkins, “the man reportedly fired his weapon at the deputies. The deputies returned fire and the subject was tragically killed,” adding that a firearm was later recovered at the scene.

It's refreshing to hear that Ngo publishing/airing who the rioters has caused the rioters grief, as they thought they were beyond accountability and had a right to anonymity .  Their bosses put many of them out of work and their neighbors did not appreciate their anarchy/rebellion.  As the one Conservatives coffee cup says on it.  Liberal tears !

Most of them would not be in the streets if they thought their names would be published and their neighbors would  know who/what they are. The rest should have their faces on the post office wall--and not as employee of the month.

They're only 'brave' in packs and if no one knows who they are.
