When things get tight, Democrats typically follow the Pontius Pilate rule of governing.  They gauge public opinion through polling and then follow the poll results.  And their current polling shows that Americans are upset about the rioting.  They did the same thing with opening schools.  They were dead set against it until polls came out showing a vast majority of parents wanted them opened.

COVID or no COVID, parents know one of them will not get back to work if someone has to stay home and watch the kids. For a lot of families who either work lower paying jobs, or who have leveraged themselves into a present bind, that would mean some harsh changes, but for single parents, it would be devastating.

The price and who pays it will depend on the effectiveness of the programming achieved through Leftist echo chamber environments from K-12, in media, and in Universities and Colleges. weighed against the thinning patience of ordinary working class Americans who have had enough on their plates without this spate of tantrums. Sympathy for an alleged cause like bias in police brutality evaporates quickly when the behaviour of the protesters and their fellow travelers leads to a desire to see more stern action by police, not less.

That has been bad enough, and worn patience thin, but the threat of being seriously injured or killed by the mob has led to more potent forms of self defense, and eventually, preemptive forms thereof.

Reinoehl brought his daughter, who was carrying a baseball bat, according to photos by an Oregonian/OregonLive photographer and others present Friday night at Mayor Ted Wheeler’s condominium building.

Reinoehl was dressed in the same light-colored vest that videos and photos show him wearing at the scene of the deadly shooting about 9 p.m. Saturday on Southwest Third Avenue.  ...

After sending federal police officers and Oregon State Police packing, Democrat Gov. Kate Brown announced on Sunday that she is bringing the state officers back to Portland, which has faced nightly destructive and now deadly riots for more than 90 days.

Moreover, after a weekend that included the shooting death of a man described as a Trump supporter, Democrat Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler blamed President Donald Trump for the ongoing violence.

“Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence?” Wheeler said at a news conference on Sunday. “It’s you who have created the hate and the division.”

Rioters Loot Stores, Set Fires at Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s Condo

The Oregonian reported:

    More than 200 people on Monday night marched to the Pearl District condominium tower where Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler lives to demand his resignation.

    The demonstration quickly turned destructive as some in the crowd lit a fire in the street, then placed a picnic table from a nearby business on top of the fire to feed the blaze. People shattered windows and broke into a ground-floor dental office took items including a chair, also added to the fire, and office supplies.

    Shortly after 11 p.m., a bundle of newspapers was set ablaze and thrown into a ground-floor storefront in the residential building.
