Black Caucus unveils next steps to combat racism
By Mike Lillis - 07/01/20 02:45 PM EDT

Leaders of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) on Wednesday announced the next phase in their strategy for fighting institutional racism, presenting a long list of reform proposals they're hoping to move this year following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

The group has led the charge for Democrats in the wake of Floyd's death on May 25, drafting expansive police reform legislation that was whisked quickly to the House floor last week, where it passed easily.

The next round of CBC reforms is broader still, touching on issues that run a spectrum from health care and education to voting rights and reparations for slavery.

The proposals are hardly new — the CBC has been pushing them for years. But the group is hoping they'll get a boost from the national protest movement that's followed the death of Floyd, an unarmed African American man, while in police custody last month.

I wonder if people vote for Trump is he going to sign legislation for reparations?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Seems to me if the BLACK caucus wanted to combat racism, they'd start with their name and caucus with everyone else, too.

I did a search in the article link, and the word "Trump" isn't in it.  Let's not hijack another thread, M'kay?  This Topic is about the Black Democrat Congressional Caucus, where Republicans are not allowed.

@truth_seeker

I thought you were interested in seeking the truth?

How is it that you do NOT know that it is impossible these days, and has been for years,to flunk a black child in school more than once?

There are actual black college graduates that can't read or write.

Good luck with that one. EVERYBODY does drugs and alcohol during their teens. Most people stop. Some people CAN'T stop because they have addictive personalities, and others have no interest in stopping.

There it is! The minute congress segregated by race it set the course for what’s happening now—racial strife.

What kind of message did that send to the world and to the nation, about this young country that has been working ever towards its foundational principle that all men are created equal?

Defund the racist CBC now! Drive out congressional racism! —how do they like those apples! I wish there were some statue to tear down!

The thing is, the CBC isn't even a "black" caucus, just a subset of the Democrat caucus.  Republican Representatives have always been refused entrance into the exclusively Democrat club.

Reparations are a far sight away. Currently, there is no definition of who would be paid, and how the money would be allocated.

The childish simplistic view is that it would be paid from taxes, and anybody 'identifying' as Black would be paid. But that is idiotic. Why should people from Vietnam, Japan, China, etc. from all over the world who pay taxes in America have to pay for reparations which they had nothing to do with.

Who is Black? Who is descended from slaves? Nobody knows. America cannot pay people today simply based on the color of their skin. Many people from India, Pakistan, South America, and many other countries would qualify as 'Black'. Do they get paid too?

Until 'reparations' is actually defined, it cannot be passed. Because currently, nobody even knows what it is? Or, how it would be paid?
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

Why should anyone, who never owned a slave pay anything to people who never were slaves?
Color of skin doesn't matter.
There were black freemen who owned slaves. How does that get worked out?
There were whites who were slaves. How about them?

Sometimes, the best thing to do is let history be history, be thankful for the freedom you have, and go forward from there.

Instead, the usual folks are sitting around waiting for that big payday, and blaming (any) other people who had nothing to do with it because it hasn't come, and the Black politicians (Leftists) are dangling that like it's a reason to vote for them, because they're gonna get it for them...someday.
An awful lot of people are being played for suckers and just don't want to admit it.

I don't think reparations is the point.  It's obvious that the goal is to start a race war.  They've been sowing this seed for decades.
