Reparations are a far sight away. Currently, there is no definition of who would be paid, and how the money would be allocated.
The childish simplistic view is that it would be paid from taxes, and anybody 'identifying' as Black would be paid. But that is idiotic. Why should people from Vietnam, Japan, China, etc. from all over the world who pay taxes in America have to pay for reparations which they had nothing to do with.
Who is Black? Who is descended from slaves? Nobody knows. America cannot pay people today simply based on the color of their skin. Many people from India, Pakistan, South America, and many other countries would qualify as 'Black'. Do they get paid too?
Until 'reparations' is actually defined, it cannot be passed. Because currently, nobody even knows what it is? Or, how it would be paid?
Why should anyone, who never owned a slave pay anything to people who never were slaves?
Color of skin doesn't matter.
There were black freemen who owned slaves. How does that get worked out?
There were whites who were slaves. How about them?
Sometimes, the best thing to do is let history be history, be thankful for the freedom you have, and go forward from there.
Instead, the usual folks are sitting around waiting for that big payday, and blaming (any) other people who had nothing to do with it because it hasn't come, and the Black politicians (Leftists) are dangling that like it's a reason to vote for them, because they're gonna get it for them...someday.
An awful lot of people are being played for suckers and just don't want to admit it.
