With mail-in voting, what could possibly go right?

New Jersey has given it a try, and it has amounted to a larger failure than any critic of the practice could’ve ever imagined. According to Mark Hemingway at RealClearPolitics:

    Following accusations of widespread fraud, voter intimidation, and ballot theft in the May 12 municipal elections in Paterson, N.J., state Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal (pictured) announced Thursday he is charging four men with voter fraud – including the vice president of the City Council and a candidate for that body.

    With races still undecided, control of the council hangs in the balance. Paterson is New Jersey’s third largest city and the election will decide the fate of a municipal budget in excess of $300 million, in addition to hundreds of millions more in education spending and state aid.

Gefn, I just put this post on another thread about this election:

This is a city election, not a county/state/national election.
A city runs its own election, using their own people.
These men stole ballots from the city.  That means the city did not keep the ballots under lock and key.  The men should be charged, which they have been, and the city needs to be examined for their role in allowing ballots to be taken/stolen.  No ballots could have been stolen if the city had total control of the ballots.
