Really, all Trump had to do when the first trillion dollar spending spree bill came to him, was to say, "no,  I'm not signing this.  Come back to me with a real budget."  There would have been wailing and gnashing of teeth and maybe congress could have overridden his veto.  But at least he would have taken a stand for the people against a congress that spends money it doesn't have.  It would have supported the official story about Trump --  that this president, a successful businessman, is going to force congress to act like a business, create a real budget using money it has to work with, not a wish list of pork for which it will then have to come up with the money or, failing that, just print more money.  Remember -- Trump was not a politician, right?  Well, by throwing our tax dollars around, he has shown that to be a lie.

So now I'm a hypocrite, eh?  Ok, I guess I can add that to the list of labels I've been given by Trump supporters.  Goes along with "traitor," "enemy of the state," and "hater."  But it seems to me Trump supporters are the hypocrites.  I have noticed how much alike Trump and Obama are, as well as their supporters.  When Obama was president, I was called a "hater" and a "racist" because I didn't swoon over his supporters' god.  Trump supporters call me similar names.  I guess if Trump was black, I'd be called a racist too.

Obama used to take vacations, run around the country on his never-ending campaign and golf.  Many Trump supporters at that time were unhappy about that.  But Trump does much the same and it's ok.  Obama, with the help of congress, threw our tax dollars down the rabbit hole (remember Solyndra?) and Trump supporters were appalled.  But Trump, again with the help of congress, tosses around trillions of dollars like they were candy, and it's all right with these supporters.

So who really are the hypocrites, huh?  Look in the mirror, my friend.

He didn't ban choke holds. The new law supposedly restricts their use somehow.

Truth to tell, the choke hold is the most effective tool there is other than a bullet to the brain to stop a violent attack in it's tracks. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing, and stop choking the instant you feel them blacking out.

AND.......,If you are a cop,you must NOT use it as a convenient tool or as a way to intimidate people. It should only be used when the only other choice is shooting the suspect or to stop the suspect from killing someone else.

That's right... Except in this case it ain't 'the choke hold'(the sleeper). In this case the hold (the knee ln the neck) does not choke you at all. What moron falls for calling it a choke hold? Oh, I know! The friggin CiC!

In all my interactions with police—and I’ve had my share—I never once worried about being put in a chokehold. (Admittedly, I also never once went for their gun)

IDIOT.

Why?

I'm torn on this issue and need someone to convince me as to why using chokeholds are necessary.  Personally...I'd prefer the police use some kind of "calming injection" on the perp resisting arrest.  Is that evil enough for ya?

I don't think this is going to have a whole lot of impact on what's going on; our police departments are still becoming defunded and dismantled....and the autonomous zones continue.  It's not going to make much difference that he signed an e.o. if the police continue to walk off the job.

Is the time ripe yet to restore order where the thugs are camping out or are we going to wait to we have autonomous zones in every major city and no police?  No police? Oh wait ... then how are we ever going to restore order???

You realize... that the RL's main goal here is to prevent order being restored (ie more chaos)....

right?

Let's face it.   It's the wave of the future!

And hey, if they use a drug that feels good enough.... the perps will be coming out of the woodwork and breaking the law just to get tranq'd.    Oh wait....

Just a tiny nit to pick here. RL (radical Left) is a redundancy. But other than that, carry on... :patriot:

Why is it required that I love him? Messianic buuuuullcrap. Must LOOOOVE dear leader...
Of course I wouldn't love him. I ain't supposed to love him. But if he started vetoing spending bills and required a balanced budget, yeah, I would like his policy a hell of a lot more. No real surprise in that is there? That would be Conservative, not to mention responsible.

But... you do realize... that right now... currently... under the disaster the economy has been brought to... (not by too much spending, but by too much CoronaV (thanks, ChiComs!)....

attempting to "balance the budget" right now would be an equal disaster.  And timing is everything, after all.

You might as well at least try to face reality/facts, etc.   Conservatism may not be dead, but it has been buried, nonetheless.   It may, at some distant point in the future, be resurrected, zombie-like....

but I doubt it.

That would be false. Balancing the budget and paying down debt strengthens the dollar.. making things cheaper. Don't know about where you are, but around here, store-bought has gone up dramatically, especially in the last two years, and more so since the shutdown debacle.

Incidental to the point. I am Conservative, and that's what I vote for. Why would I want to vote for that which I oppose?

And it matters not a whit that Conservatism is called dead. Reality has a way of intruding upon fantasy - especially the fantasy of having a limitless credit card. Probably most folks know the consequence of irresponsibly using plastic - I sure do. And I learned that the hard way.

That same consequence is surely coming, sure as the laws of physics or of gravity... And it brings a very, very hard way.

That is why I will not 'get used to it'. and why I will stand here preachin. Tumpy and the Republicans are damn well wrong, and it's going to hurt like hell. That is a MAJOR fault in any case, but at the levels now at play, that error is not only egregious, but knowing and intentional.

I will not vote for that.

Wake me up when he signs an EO designating BLM and Antifa as domestic terrorist organizations.

Speaking of reality, it's long overdue you got acquainted w/it.
Spending, non-spending represents the level of discipline a person or the people display.
Does a disciplined nation:
* need rules mandating social distancing devised by political assholery???
* allow non-citizens to cross their borders and hide-out for decades???
* passively encourage rebellion/sedition in its urban areas???
* mind everyone else's business while ignoring it's own citizens???
As for Principled Conservatism, it was birthed some 1000 years before Plato and
will be around long after the hilarity labeled Republicanism is dead and buried!!

First of all,if he is chewing your face off,you ain't going to get him in a choke hold. In that case, you poke his eyeball out,and then snatch on it.  That will make him forget all about chewing on anything.

Secondly, you are now talking about self-defense from felony assault. WHOLE different thang.

@XenaLee

It is almost impossible for one man to hold another man down that is in berserker mode and being pumped full of adrenaline so you can sedate him. For one thing, you need one hand to hold the needle.

A choke hold,on the other hand,is very easy to apply to most people, and it shuts them down right NOW if done properly, regardless of how big they are or what kind of drugs are already running through their system.

It is a universal truth of nature that when someone shuts your breathing down, they shut you down.

On the other hand, zap a perp with a tranq and for all you know it might interact with some other drug he is already taking, and kill him. Or even make him more aggressive and stronger.

Plus,it takes longer for a drug to take hold and calm him down than simply shutting off his air does.

You just can't be a damn fool about it,and keep the hold on him after he strops struggling.

Plus, done right, choke holds are painless, and they are hard to do wrong. It's a pretty basic thing. I used one the first time instinctively.

Another advantage of a choke hold is after you apply one to someone aggressive and he wakes up,he doesn't wake up aggressive. He wakes up calm and willing to listen to reason. Or at least that is my experience with both the ones I have applied, and the ones I have seen others apply. The guy had a little nap,and he woke up wondering what happened.

Well no... Any violent act is felony assault... And assault on a peace officer in this case. ALL of the current cases that I am aware of, the perp was guilty of assault.

Right. But resisting arrest is not self defense.
