Gorsuch draws surprise, anger with LGBT decision
By Harper Neidig and John Kruzel - 06/15/20 05:43 PM EDT

Neil Gorsuch, widely considered one of the more conservative justices on the Supreme Court, stunned observers and drew enmity from right-wing commenters after he authored Monday’s landmark decision guaranteeing LGBT people protection from workplace discrimination.

Gorsuch wrote in the 6-3 decision that the prohibition against discrimination on the basis of "sex" in Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act also applies to gay and transgender employees.

"In Title VII, Congress adopted broad language making it illegal for an employer to rely on an employee’s sex when deciding to fire that employee," Gorsuch wrote. "We do not hesitate to recognize today a necessary consequence of that legislative choice: An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law."

The LGBTQSNAFUBAR angle is irrelevent.

It's the making up of law from the bench that was what took it over the cliff.

Some kind of Conservative Judge.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Surprise anger?  Everthing makes folks angry these days why would a SCOTUS action be any different?

Why shouldn't people be angry?

Yeah... Both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh came out if the House of Souter. Never believed they were conservative from the start, and argued it here all the while.

Now comes the consequence of listening to those who accuse us for Conservative purity, like it's something to be jeered.

It's been a really bad couple of months ... COVID, riots, and now this.  I'd say that the good ole USA is gone.  I hate to be so pessimistic but I'm just not seeing a flicker of hope here.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Indeed.  Gorsuch made his decision based on the plain language of the text.  Just as Scalia would have 9done.

This was a correct and well-reasoned decision.

Gorsuch redefined "sex" just as Roberts redefined "tax."

The Never-Trumpers are looking more and more vindicated.

A number of Trump supporters, when I asked about Trump's accomplishments as president, would always point me to his nomination of "conservative" judges, and they scoffed when I said I would reserve judgment on that till I see what these judges actually do.

Looks like that accomplishment has been tarnished a bit.

In other news, apparently the SCOTUS just told Trump he cannot undo Obama's DACA EO. F&^#.

As far as the NTers, they're in the 'blind squirrel' category.

No one knows how a judge will rule until seated on the court.  NO ONE!
