I listened to a stream from a local conservative Baptist church yesterday.  The pastor's sermon was on racism and actually it wasn't bad.  At the end of the service though, he wanted all of the congregation to get on their knees to pray.  Actually I have no problem with kneeling before God and it's probably appropriate...BUT...it seemed to me that he was doing this to acknowledge the BLM issue going on and it struck me the wrong way.  Thoughts?

I live near a city of 50,000 with a very small black population, two or three percent.
Nevertheless, all the people in charge of whatever in the city, including medical people, have made a big deal about bowing down to BLM and apologizing for being white.
Even in the closest village to me with an even tinier black population that the city, a local pastor has taken it upon himself to apologize for his racism by being white.
In a letter to his congregation that was placed on local CBS new website, he told his congregation that he didn't know for sure what racist things he had done, but he was pretty sure he had done them.
It appears this is the message most religious people in my area are delivering to their congregations.

I don't have a problem with the foot-washing exercise.  But the message isn't about seeking forgiveness.  The message is supposed to be about service and humility which are things that police officers already do on a daily basis.  Those who received the washing should have reciprocated by washing the feet of the policemen.
