What exactly does it mean when the leader of the authoritarian arm of local government, the arm which asserts a virtual monopoly on violence as an acceptable method of coercion, talks about "my people" and asserts that "we" built this country?  Can those of us excluded from his specific identity trust that his agency will treat us fairly?

Isn't the entire ostensible premise of the current "protest" movement the belief that this exact sense of racial identity by police officers is unacceptable?

Chief Acevedo needs to heed his own advice and keep his mouth shut.

Protesters have invaded the burbs.  Around 4 dozen white protesters are occupying the corners of Roswell Rd. and Johnson Ferry Rd. in East Cobb holding up BLM signs.  I engaged one of them in a conversation pointing out that her sign was racist - that ALL lives matter.  We shouldn't be divided up into separate groups with signs acknowledging only one race.  We should stand together as one colorblind society.  The sooner we do that, the sooner discrimination ends.

I then pointed out that legal abortion is what devalues human life, and that one out of three conceived black children is killed by abortion.  So if black lives really matter to her, she should put down her sign and replace it with one that says "Stop Aborting Black Babies".

Didn't get many takers on that one.  But then what do you expect from a bunch of liberal racists.

btw, Wal-Mart closed at 5 pm on account of looting that is taking place in states run by Democrats.  Guess they don't realize it is a heck of a lot easier to loot a closed Wal-Mart than an open one.  Idiots.

Houston PD has been notoriously corrupt, brutal, racist, and non-responsive for decades.  The summer I spend in Houston, there would be a story on the news every night about a cop shooting someone.

I'd prefer a jury with the actual facts to determine if it was murder or not. A knee to the neck behind the ears does not suffocate you. Nor does it cut off blood to the brain. At least not in a normal person. There's more to the story than what the video shows. More likely is heart failure due to poor health, drugs and fighting with the police exerting a lot of energy.

Failure to render aid maybe the most chargeable offence that could stick if the facts as reported are true.

What the video did not show, was seen from another angle. There were two other police behind the SUV, also 'restraining' Floyd. One appeared to be kneeling on his ribs and back.  Eight minutes when there are four police there to subdue the man if necessary seems excessive, continuing to kneel on someone after they quit breathing is overkill.

That "This is about winning hearts and minds." statement was like a spear through my stomach.
He may or may not know, that was the exact slogan Bush/Obama were using about Iraq and Afghanistan.

That slogan, that far-Left Liberal bullshit, is why we are still there today.
Liberal fools think, 'If we are just "nice" to them, they will lay down their arms and we will all hug it out.'

This is the mindset of a child. This is the mindset of an idiot. This is the mindset of a Liberal.

This is why we never 'win' any war we enter. This slogan advertises to the enemy (Antifa) that America has no will to win. We don't want to defeat you. We just want to make you 'like' us. It didn't work in Iraq. It didn't work in Afghan. And it will not work with Antifa.

This Police Chief is a weak fool. And if I can see that, you can only imagine how Soros/BLM/Antifa are taking what he said. The IRF battalion — which deployed to Iraq earlier this year to quell Iran-backed violence — brought approximately 750 soldiers, ten Black Hawk helicopters, and four Chinooks, according to sources. The helicopters are utility, not attack, and are used to transport troops short distances.
 
The aircraft are just one of the ways troops could be transported, but would give the IRF the ability to rapidly deploy to a number of locations in the D.C. Metro area quickly.
