Senate Republicans urge Trump to tone down rhetoric on protests

Senate Republicans are urging President Trump to soften his language in response to a wave of protests in major cities across the country after the death in police custody of George Floyd, fearing his rhetoric is fueling tensions instead of quelling them.

Republicans from across the political spectrum on Sunday and Monday warned that Trump’s verbal shots at protesters and local officials alike are “not constructive” or “helpful” and urged him to change his tone.

While many GOP senators have never been fans of Trump’s unrestrained tweeting habit, his latest public salvos are piquing fresh concerns among lawmakers.

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) at a press conference on Monday told reporters, “I do think some of his tweets have not been helpful, and it would be helpful if he would change the tone of his message.”

But one half of Congress has decided rather unconstitutionally that 20 people holding a certain amount of proxy votes equals a quorum and that our nations business can be run like that.

So right now, Congress the way we've known it for almost 244 years actually does NOT exist.

Congress should immediately convene and pass a resolution condemning Trump's use of military force against peaceful protesters.

Every Democrat and Republican needs to be on record.

The Executive Branch is out of control. This is why Congress exists.

This is to be expected.  You bet ya Chuck and Nancy are already looking into a way to stop him.  I wouldn't be surprised if they find an opportunity for impeachment.

Yep. I've moved and warehoused alot of palletized freight by forklift and manual pallet jack in my days a la a Walmart warehouse.

Those got to be carried in by semi truck, and taken off by a forklift. Even in my prime a pallet of brick was not easy to drag around with pallet jack.

And in my prime I was 235 lbs and could pick up a 190 lb entertainment center and throw it a good 6 ft.

The max semi-tucks can carry is about 28 pallets load. in 'flower petal' configuration. There is also a 45 ton weight limit for the road (or used to be anyway).

Dozens of pallets around a city would require multiple semi-trucks, alot of money and top-level coordination, plus a fair amount of lead time.

Not something just random or done off the cuff and pulled out of your butt.

Push has come to shove; either "we" win this one or we lose our country.  The DEMS are not going to stand with this President against the violence and some of the GOP Senators are going against him.

So...who's left really to help Trump with this fight??  The President cannot do this by himself.  When we have Senators pushing back against him, we've got a real problem.
