The nationwide protests of police violence in wake of George Floyd’s death came to Houston Friday, with several hundred demonstrators and Black Lives Matter activists gathering downtown near Discovery Green and planning to march to City Hall.

The rally was to focus on “education and awareness” about police violence, said Ashton Woods, Black Lives Matter Houston founder.

“We’re making sure people know that they have a place to come and express their anger and frustration,” he said Thursday.

More than 100 people gathered to begin the march at 2 p.m.

Floyd, 46, a Third Ward native and Yates High School graduate, died in Minneapolis police custody Monday night after video showed an officer kneeling on his neck, pinning him to the ground while he pleaded for help.

George Floyd Left a Gospel Legacy in Houston

This is why Houston...

Let's pray that this protest is as peaceful as George Lloyd was and carried out in a manner he would approve of.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

"Sometimes I think the Church would be better off if we would call a moratorium on activity for about six weeks and just wait on God to see what He is waiting to do for us. That's what they did before Pentecost."   - A. W. Tozer

Use the time God is giving us to seek His will and feel His presence.
