The Minneapolis police officer videotaped pinning George Floyd to the ground with his knee during an arrest has become the target of false claims on social media that attempt to tie him to political agendas and racist ideologies.
Twitter and Facebook posts with hundreds of thousands of views Wednesday claimed that Officer Derek Chauvin was pictured wearing a “Make Whites Great Again” hat and standing onstage at a rally for President Trump last fall, neither of which turned out to be true.

Libs are trying to use this to bludgeon Trump.

Libs are trying to use this to bludgeon Trump.

But that doesn't change the fact that what happened to Floyd was absolutely horrific.

The murder happened near where our nephew lives and the rioting is going on in neighborhoods where several other relatives presently live.

It shouldn't be made political from either side...... but both sides will surely do it.  **nononono*

Praying for calm and for the safety of innocent people in the beautiful South Minneapolis neighborhoods.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

Murder?  Evidence?
True the police were rough but murder is a stretch at this point.

I guess it's a matter of perspective, but it's clear that he was begging for his life because he couldn't breathe, and his life is now ended.

The Watts Riots were 55 years ago this summer(Aug-65). 34 dead.

Started with a police incident, pulling a driver over for reckless driving.

What's the difference between homicide, murder and manslaughter?

https://murphylawoffice.org/john-murphy-law-office-blog/77-what-s-the-difference-between-homicide-murder-and-manslaughter.html

Quote
Most people equate premeditation with long term planning.  However, in most criminal codes premeditation doesn’t mean that the killing was planned for weeks or days.  Premeditation often is defined as any planning or design to cause the death before the act of killing occurred.  Second degree murder usually includes all intentional killings that are not premeditated, and some killings that resulted from conduct so reckless it showed a grave indifference to the sanctity of human life or the welfare of others.

Thanks for that, Elderberry.

There was no concern for the sanctity of life here.  The man was pleading for his life and it was taken from him.

For a petty non-violent crime, already handcuffed, no threat.

Every police officer in the country should come down on the same side and want this guy gone.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

@musiclady

murder[ mur-der ]
noun
Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder, ormurder one), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder, ormurder two).

manslaughter[ man-slaw-ter ]
noun
Law. the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought.
the killing of a human being by another; homicide.

Words mean things, given the above definitions, which do you think applie?

See Elderberry’s post above with the definition of second degree murder.

It applies.

Since there will be no decision made until these officers are tried and convicted, Lord willing, for this man’s death, it’s merely a meaningless debate at this point.

I used the word I meant because words mean things.

require the rest of us to park our brains in the sub-basement.
Officer Derek Chauvin clearly pinned down a handcuffed George Floyd
w/his knee while Floyd was blocked by a tire.
The Press report that Chauvin has been involved in similar behavior
w/defendants at least 10X during his 19 year career w/o any discipline.
No wonder the Police Chief fired him instantly!!!

The Unacceptably Unjust Death of George Floyd

@verga

I posted this elsewhere, but it's relevant here as well.

The Heritage Foundation's assessment based on evidence now available is that this was second degree murder.

Obviously there will need to be a trial after charges are filed and all the evidence is in, but calling this death murder is not a stretch from their perspective nor mine.

I chose the word carefully and deliberately, and still mean it.

@Absalom So your idea is to overcharge him and get any conviction thrown out on a technicality. Good plan.

Twitter: No Warning on Misleading Viral Photo of Minneapolis Cop at Trump Rally

Minneapolis Police Union President Lt. Bob Kroll confirmed on Wednesday that Derek Chauvin — the officer caught on tape resting his full weight on Minnesota man George Floyd’s neck shortly before he died — was not on stage at an October campaign rally held by President Donald Trump.

Yeah, its pretty clear.  And the other officer was standing there with his hands in his pockets watching.

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Well I have to hand it to our liberal news.  They discussed this and said it was all false.

Well I have to hand it to our liberal news.  They discussed this and said it was all false.

That's nice. The Snopes articles linked in this post, http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,403386.msg2218844.html#msg2218844 , gives at least some source(s) for that and a similar false claim. This article, where I found the Snopes links, https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2020/05/28/no-minneapolis-police-officer-derek-chauvin-was-not-photographed-at-a-trump-rally-n437781 , gives examples of media people who Tweeted the false claims. The PJMedia gives links to those Tweets, which are still on Twitter, plus or minus one that may have been taken private. A couple of the Tweets have the "warning" "Manipulated Media", but do not inform viewers that the meme is simply false.

This ABC article suggests that the Minneapolis police union president went to AP before the viral Twitter and FB falsehoods crossed over into "news" media reports, but I wonder whether some MSM types bit on the falsehoods. Anything on this in NewsBusters video archive, @pjcomix?
