Protests in Minneapolis over the in-custody death of George Floyd escalated Wednesday night with a fatal shooting near the site of the demonstrations, widespread looting, multiple fires and the deployment of tear gas.

The second night of demonstrations in the city near the site of Floyd's death began peacefully but grew violent as the night went on. Gov. Tim Walz late Wednesday called it an "extremely dangerous situation" and urged residents to leave the area.

Will the media breathlessly call these people "covidiots" and eagerly await a rise in new coronavirus cases in two weeks? After all, that's how the nonviolent protesters and beachgoers were treated.

Ilhan Omar is no stranger to controversy, and the apple does not fall far from the tree. The Congresswoman’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, who participated in protests in the past as a "climate activist", is now sharing support for the riots currently going down in Minneapolis, where she lives.

In a series of tweets on Thursday, Hirsi shared numerous tweets that could be read as calls to action against the police.

One of the tweets Hirsi promoted was posted by Twin Cities DSA, an antifa-affiliated account.  ...

The account tweeted:

"Want to help out your comrades protesting at the 3rd precinct (at Lake and Minnehaha?) Here’s a good list of much needed supplies (except for milk! Water is always better for eyewashing than milk!! Please don’t bring milk!)"

The tweet included a list of "supplies" protesters could bring to the protest site, which includes goggles, gauze, first aid, plywood for shields, "anything else useful for shielding from cops", and a variety of makeshift weapons including tennis rackets and hockey sticks.  ...

As my mother always said, two wrongs don't make a right. I grieve for the innocent people these rioters are hurting. It doesn't right the wrong that was done Mr. Floyd by the cops, and it certainly does nothing to promote justice.

A Mississippi cop held a young man by the neck as onlookers screamed, “He can’t breathe!” troubling video shows.

The 2-minute clip posted to Facebook Friday shows a uniformed Jackson police officer with both hands wrapped around the man’s neck.

“What did I tell you to do?” the officer screams at the man, video shows. “Make me, make me, make me … I said make me, boy.” ...

It certainly doesn't.   The rioting, if anything, makes actual justice more difficult to maintain.  It also punishes hardworking business people who are completely innocent.  This area is mixed racially, and most of the businesses are owned by people trying to make a living the right way.

THEY are the people these goons are hurting.

This is so monumentally stupid!  This area is a peaceful, racially, ethnically mixed success story.  We have spent a lot of time while visiting family on Lake Street, and walking in the lovely neighborhoods there and along the Mississippi.

Antifa is diabolical. Omar is evil, and her daughter is apparently worse.

People don't think.  These outsides come into a community, whip the residents up to a frenzy and what happens -- injury, death and destruction.  Don't the residents watch tv or read about past destructive protests and see the results?  Those outsiders don't care about the dead fellow,  the residents  and their neighborhoods.  They just care about the agenda -- the destruction of America by instituting lawlessness.

George Floyd worked at the Salvation Army Harbor Light homeless shelter in Minneapolis. 

A chaplain there described him as "a giver..... a fighter...... tender hearted.......... a man after God's own heart...... a peace lover who detested violence."  He had a "robust faith" and "wanted others to meet his God."

He is now with Jesus.  Prayers for his family and loved ones, for peace in Minneapolis, and for justice in his death.
