Green Beret Ron Shurer, Medal of Honor recipient, succumbs to cancer at 41
Green Beret Ron Shurer, who earned the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during a 2008 shootout in Afghanistan, died Thursday after battling lung cancer. He was 41.
“We are saddened by the loss of Staff Sgt. Ronald Shurer,†the U.S. Army said in a statement.
“He was a Soldier, Medal of Honor Recipient, and an American Hero. He will be remembered for his courage and humility.â€
