Michelle Obama Given PBS Show After Democrats Gave Public Broadcaster $75 Million in Coronavirus Relief Bill

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has been given a show by PBS starting next week, the taxpayer funded network announced Friday. The timing of the announcement comes after Democrats marked $75 million for PBS’s parent the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in the coronavirus relief bill that passed at the end of March.

Newsbusters reported the $75 million is on top of the $465 million given CPB in the current year’s federal budget, which is an increase of $20 million over the previous year. Local PBS and NPR stations receive funding from CBP as well as donations from the public, businesses and charitable foundations. ...

Obama will be hosting a weekly children’s show for the next four weeks, reading books to kids who are being kept at home while schools are closed due to pandemic stay at home orders.  ...

On those rare occasions I find something worth watching on PBS, I have to sit through as many commercials as if I were watching regular TV. So why are the taxpayers still subsidizing this propaganda organization?

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt on that one,and just say you are mostly mistaken. MOST of their money comes from viewer and corporate contributions. That's one way they can tell what their most popular programs are.

They also have fund-raisers on a fairly regular basis,and generally "give away" DVD collections of the series they are airing when the fundraisers are airing.

But of course,you already know all this because you are an authority on PBS,right?

They can always count on a few self-styled "conservatives" to play along, and when they do, they are correctly labeled "hypocrites."

No you don't. I don't know what your local PBS does, but  once the programming starts on PBS station, there are no ads until the end of the show. And the "ads" are promos for future shows.
You can argue that taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for the programming, but you can't argue a falsehood.
