Customs and Border Protection Paid $66 Million for Temporary Detainment Center That Was 99% Empty

S. Customs and Border Protection spent $66 million to build and operate a temporary detainment center in Tornillo, Texas—that opened last August and closed this January—where it kept, on average, 1 percent of the facility's capacity in detainees, according to the Government Accountability Office.

In other words, the $66-million facility that operated for approximately five months was generally 99-percent empty.

“During the 5-month period the Tornillo facility was open, the CBP paid approximately $66 million in total for the facility services and leveraged significant federal personnel resources (both CBP and otherwise), despite holding an average of 30 detainees per day—or about 1 percent of the facility's capacity,” says a report that the GAO provided to members of Congress.

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The questions that need to be answered are "Who cashed the checks, and who approved the facility being built?"

Is the wall built there already?
If not...
Can the facility be adapted for work crews' housing?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I guess when you're the number 1 infected country in the world nobody is anxious to immigrate, trespass or even visit.  Now would be a hilarious time to declare a ban on immigration then declare how effective you were.

We don't have to do that, just claim the border counties are the most infected.
If the CHinese can lie like rugs about the virus, why not do the same, only to OUR advantage?

The time when it was planned and building begun was probably during the waves of illegals bused up from Honduras (and Guatemala?). As it turned out, other measures to, umm, discourage mass illegal entries broke the waves (for now). But consider what would have happened - and the howls of politicization - had the waves continued and this facility not been there.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Right. Because we can house prison inmates in the desert in tents, but not illegal invaders.
