What a strange bluebonnet season this year! Normally we have hundreds of people calling and coming by the Visitor Center on a daily basis.  Not this year!  And such a bummer since the flowers were much more abundant than last season.  At this time, yes the wildflowers are still blooming but with the rain & sunshine we’ve recently had, the grasses are starting to grow taller than the flowers themselves.  You can still take a nice drive (see map on this page) but please be aware that all public restrooms are closed.  All city & state parks are also closed.  And all restaurants are to-go only.

Looking forward to returning to “normal” day-to-day life.  It’s a great time to plan a trip for next season!

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

I miss driving through the Bluebonnet fields heading from Austin back to Midland after my NG weekend drills.  There were some pretty areas over near Brady and Llano.
