New York to require all people to wear masks when in public

Anyone outside in public in New York will be required to wear a mask or some kind of face covering under a new executive order from Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

Cuomo on Wednesday said the order will apply only in situations where you can't be physically distant from other people, like riding public transit.

â€œIf you are going to be in a situation, in public, where you come into contact with other people in a situation that is not socially distanced you must have a mask or a cloth covering nose and mouth,â€ Cuomo said.

Cuomo said there will be a three-day window before the order takes effect to make sure everyone can get into compliance. Local governments would enforce the order, but they won't be issuing fines yet, he said.

So let me get this straight..... In a town like NYC where LEO's ignore public urination, they are going to issue citiations for not wearing a mask?

Clarification: this is only for public situations in which the recommended social distance of 6 feet cannot be maintained. In other words, unless one is riding the New York City subways, you're not going to be mandated to cover your face.

Which had been fine up 'til now. Every time I see a recent picture of a NYC Subway I think, "Gee, I wonder why there are so many people catching the virus!"

Well, Pennsylvania's Goobernor Wolf just announced that face coverings will be required ion public transportation, in supermarkets or anywhere else there will be multiple people.

So ridiculous, especially since (a) our fearless leaders aren't wearing facial coverings; and (b) medical experts can't agree whether these coverings do anything to prevent the spread of this virus.

More government control of our lives.
