GOP Sen. Kennedy: Americans ‘Have Demonstrated a Lot of Common Decency’ — ‘They’re Not Going to Stay Home Much Longer’

Jeff Poor 10 Apr 2020

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) argued it was time to start to consider ways to open up the American economy and pointed to European countries that were doing as much as the coronavirus pandemic seems to be waning.

Kennedy praised Americans for their “common decency” but said he did not think their patience would last much longer.

“Before the well-intentioned arugula and tofu crowd gets all lubed up, I’m not talking about opening it Monday, but we’ve got to get this economy open,” he said. “Government shut it down. We’ve got some bad unemployment numbers today. I wasn’t surprised. I mean, this economy has been chewed up, spit out and stepped on. It looks like a scene from Mad Max. I think it will be temporary, and we got to be smart about how we do it. The president is shortly going to appoint a task force to talk about how we do it, but Austria is opening its economy, Denmark is opening its economy, gradually, as we will have to do. Germany is starting to open its economy back up, and we’ve got to start talking about how to do that here.”

Instead talking to Hannity, maybe he could call Gov Edwards.

My President announced today that FEMA and the Army Corp of Engineers built a 1,000 bed hospital in LA, and are working on another 1,000.  When do you want to open up LA Sen Kennedy?

Do you think he hasn't?  But I think I get your point.  The on-the-ground restrictions across the country are a result of actions by the Governors, not the President.  Donald Trump did not shut down all the Casino Resorts across the river from me, that was Goobernor Sisolak.  That threw 8,000 people out of work, almost all residents of my burg.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Meanwhile, I read a temporary Hospital in Seattle closed because there aren't patients to fill it.

Hopefully FEMA is sending those resources elsewhere.
