Summary
The capabilities that the newly established Space Force can provide are vital to the nation’s defense. That fact, coupled with the minimal cost, makes the investment a fiscally and operationally prudent one. The Air Force should continue the transfer of its space professionals to the Space Force, and the Department of Defense should ensure that all space professionals in the Army and Navy have been identified and that those services are preparing the identified for their transfer to the Space Force. Congress should continue its robust funding of the Space Force and use the 2021 NDAA to mandate the transfer of all Army and Navy space organizations, personnel, and assets to the Space Force by the end of FY 2025.
