Cuomo to ask Trump to authorize four more temporary hospitals

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said on Friday that he will ask President Trump for the authorization to build four additional temporary hospitals as the state deals with a rising number of coronavirus cases.

"We still have a shortfall [of hospital beds], so we're going to go to Plan B," Cuomo said at his daily press conference on the outbreak.

"We're going to seek to build another four temporary emergency hospitals, which would get us another 4,000 beds," he explained.


Cuomo gave his press conference from the Javitz Convention Center in Manhattan, one of four temporary hospitals that he had already ordere. The others will be in Westchester, Stony Brook and Old Westbury on Long Island.

Ummmmm ... why does Governor Cuomo need Federal permission to build temporary hospitals? FDA or CDC regulations? Cuomo is playing helpless?

My guess is so he can blame Trump if his state doesn't take care of itself.

Temporary hospitals are being prepared in Ohio (no federal permission required) and we're no where near the mess that NY is.

Andy needs to calm down, back away from the cameras and figure out what's going on in his state before asking for more ...

Just a reminder:  The Feds are currently building four temporary hospitals in NY .... and a 1,000 bed Navy hospital ship deploys from Virginia to NYC tomorrow.
