American Military News  March 24, 2020 Syracuse Media Group N.Y. - Geoff Herbert

President Donald Trump announced Monday that the deadline for obtaining a REAL ID for travel requirements is being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The federal government was scheduled to begin requiring a REAL ID, enhanced driver’s license or similar valid identification cards in order to board any domestic flight starting Oct. 1, 2020. Trump said Monday that the deadline will be moved back to avoid crowding at DMV offices.

“We are postponing the deadline for compliance with Real ID requirement at a time when we are asking Americans to maintain social distancing,” Trump said during a White House briefing on the COVID-19 crisis.

Trump said a new deadline would be announced at a later date.

Americans have just one year left before new federal rules will require a specific form of identification for all domestic flights.

Starting next spring, the federal government will require those boarding domestic flights to carry a driver’s license or other identification card that is Real ID compliant.

The deadline for Real ID requirements on domestic air travel was initially set for Oct. 1, 2020, but has been delayed thrice in recent years due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. ...

However, the new deadline is quickly approaching, with an implementation date of May 7, 2025, giving travelers just over a year to get their hands on a Real ID. ...

Illegals board planes with no ID. They even get an express lane.

More massive loss of liberty. I don't know why folks stand for it.

Do y'all just produce ID any time a lawman demands it?

And how many of y'all exclusively use plastic, so that your every transaction is recorded?

They're leading us right down the garden path.

Yeah I get the privacy argument, wasn't happy that I had to get a Real ID in California  to be able to take advantage of my 2nd Amendment rights, forget flying. But if I recall well before this Real ID crap I still had to show my plain vanilla DL to board a plane so big brother was able to track me. I have a question though, will illegals(and terrorists) still be free to board planes and fly all over America without one?

I'll use my US Passport.

Real ID's will be worthless because states are giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.

Governor Mike Dukakis' administration used to give out fake SSN's to illegal immigrants so they could get welfare and get driver's licenses.

Any form of state-issued identification is not trustworthy for Federal identification.

I have a "real ID" license, but probably doesn't matter in my case.

My last trip on a big jet was in 1984 - 40 years ago.
I won't be boarding an airplane again.

I have flown twice in the past few years. Yes, I got the 'real ID', and then went one further and got the TSA precheck, which lets you skip the shoe removal shuffle and just go through the regular metal detector/luggage scan. It saved me time and standing in line the flights I have taken since.
