So...Should We Put Lasers on Tanks?

Lasers are arriving on the battlefield, but are they tank-friendly?

Laser armed tanks are a well known trope in science fiction.

Lasers on the battlefield are fast becoming a reality.

There are pluses and minuses to tanks armed with laser guns, but the bottom line there are too many issues—at least for now—to make them practical.

Maybe we should put mirrors on tanks.  When someone fires a laser, aim the mirror back at them.  BOOM!
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

Lasers are also line of sight weapons so if there is a ridge, tree or any obstacle in the way the laser is useless and you become the target.

No bunker-busting delayed fuses either.

I say, let's put them on sharks, first:

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
