Coronavirus Is the Chinese Government’s Curse Upon the World
David Harsanyi / @davidharsanyi / March 20, 2020 /

The World Health Organization and other sensitive souls have instructed us to stop referring to the new strain of the coronavirus as the “Wuhan” or “Chinese” flu because of the racist connotations.

I’m disinclined to curb my speech to placate Chinese propagandists, and it seems to me the aversion to those terms is less about racism than about averting blame. But in the spirit of comity, and avoiding disparaging an entire nation, I’m happy to call it the ChiCom Flu moving forward.

There are many traditional naming conventions that don’t really make that much sense. Somewhat weirdly, for example, we often name diseases after the people who “discover” them—Hodgkin’s disease after Thomas Hodgkin, Parkinson’s disease after James Parkinson, and so on.

The author assumes it came from the food market. There is no actual evidence of that. It is just a convenient claim.

Whether it originated from the market or not (I don't think it did, now) is not the whole point.  China allowed what could have been contained to grow into a world-wide pandemic, by trying to cover it up the way they did with SARS a few years back.  Nobody, it seems, is interested in punishing China for that, but it needs to happen.

Whatever the cause, we're seeing a textbook case of perturbed supply chains, and those always need to be shaken out from time to time.  After this is over, there will be more suppliers for the small businesses to use, and more transportation methods.

The hoarding that we're seeing is a result of mindless panic.  No supply chain can anticipate such things.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

International health experts visiting Chinese "wet" markets three years ago said the filthy, disgusting markets were virus incubators waiting to explode on the world. So there's that.

Exactly.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

My only point is I think that this is how China covers things up and it shouldn't be repeated as truth here in the west. By repeating it China's "truth" becomes widely accepted common knowledge.

And you'll get no argument from me regarding supply chains.

Yes, except the first cases had no actual connection to the market.

You can see why that would be the first thing an investigator would look at, though.  Probably turns out to be a bad lead, but I would not learn the wrong lesson and not still look at it in future cases.

How far would China go to bury that this whole thing started as a leak from their bio lab in the same city? A lab that studies these specific SARS related viruses using live animals infected with it.

Why were orders issued from the top to destroy RNA samples taken from the first patients? Perhaps in a panic to hide any connection to the lab containing virus with the same RNA.

We'll likely never know the truth.

We'll know how this thing started for certain if China makes eating bats a crime punishable by life in prison.

You are precisely correct.  And that's why it's China's curse upon the world.

There were reports that shortly after this all started they changed lab security protocols moving in a general to take charge.

Just in my view, chances that it is a "wet" market are better than even.  Maybe even 75% chance.
.
Related but not directly to this topic, we posted in World News how Chinese got busted expelled in Canada at some  biology lab and were escorted out, in recent months, a  Harvard head of the biology department was arrested.

https://www.npr.org/2020/01/28/800442646/acclaimed-harvard-scientist-is-arrested-accused-of-lying-about-ties-to-china

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/national-microbiology-lab-scientist-investigation-china-1.5307424

So, I mean, I say to myself, why are we having stories like this? That's crazy in itself.  These are warning signs, there may be more stories and probably more we aren't aware of.

It seemed for a while, there were frequent stories of ... well, of this or that, I don't want to go too far because it can kind of sound like prejudice but we definitely need to be on guard.

Well, yes they did. A woman vendor in the Wuhan fish market was the first reported person to come down with the virus. A bunch of other people from the market were soon infected as well.

I don't believe that is correct. The first case was something like 20 miles away with no connection the market. I'll if I can find the story already posted here.

Too many links to go to...

I did find this:

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3074991/coronavirus-chinas-first-confirmed-covid-19-case-traced-back

Which shows the first case was much earlier than China officially reported. There are other reports, that I have not found again yet, that indicated they could not find a link to the market with the first known case.

I'm just going by what I've read. Could be right, could be wrong. But that is the info I've found. Several different websites have stated that she was the first.
I just don't find the idea of the ChiComs deliberately releasing this virus on the world plausible or logical.
They're in for a major drop in stature (and possible sanctions) after this thing is over. I doubt they want that.

Oh I don't think it was deliberate. They have a level 4 bio lab in that very city, the only one in China. In a very large country. That bio lab is studying SARS related viruses and has live animals infected with various forms of SARS in house. All that it takes is one contaminated person or animal to leak out and start the spread. And why else would the higher ups demand that the early RNA sequencing done on the first detected infections be destroyed and everything related to it buried? One good reason would be if the RNA matched what was in the lab.

After this all happened it was reported that the labs security protocols were increased and that a general was assigned to take over management of it.

Too many coincidences.

I don't trust the Chinese at all.

Not to mention a dream come true for the DNC and the NT RINO's.

Harsh, but fair.

I'll let the DNC speak for itself, but I hope I speak for some NT RINOs.  When I warned that President Trump was a low information narcissist unfit to lead, it's true, I did pray for a deadly National Emergency that would target the GOP's highest voter demographic in my traitorous TDS rage.
I can hide it no longer now that proof has come out. We are in a National Emergency with a low information narcissist unfit to lead.
I was actually hoping you wouldn't bring that up.  I want to apologize to all of you who voted for him, and I'm ashamed at my naked glee of your anguish.

But now we are here and I believe the President when he says "We are all in this together."
For whatever reason I see a different President, maybe you've noticed too?
I am finally at a point where I believe our President is deathly afraid his legacy (the stockmarket, low unemployment, mid 40s approval rating) is slipping away.
I actually think the President is fully utilizing his limited abilities to do smart things because he is understanding much what his advisors are telling him.
And I believe the President understands what he is told, because he repeats what he thinks he heard, many times during unscripted questions.
That should be applauded.

Today he called for "solidarity" "people getting along" "republicans and democrats, independents, liberals and conservatives" "in one common goal...saving American lives."  So yes this is a dream come true.  After 3 short years President Trump has exceeded my extremely low expectations for 8 days straight.  I agree with his course of action, I agree with his advisors, I agree with his bland Presidential tone.  I want this.  It doesn't sound like you do.  My bad again.

I'm not sure if your comment is an argument about who is at fault for the dead, sick, broke, unemployed, and scared.  I'm not really interested in defending myself against the comically stoopid notion it's NeverTrump's fault.  Maybe it's just a vague and perplexed, wounded and angry grunt at those you hate.  Stay strong in your purity.

I would prefer to extend an olive branch to any Trumpalos who want to work towards President Trump's efforts to fix this despite President Trump's 180 degree turn around from his policy before the bodies started getting cremated in bulk in Italy.

Thanks for your post @sneakypete

It's for sure the Trump admin probably made mistakes concerning this crisis and will probably make some more.
But to blame Trump for the crisis instead of putting the blame squarely where it belongs, on China, is wrong.
What exactly are the  things Trump is doing concerning the crisis that are wrong? Virtually every country in the world was caught off guard thanks to China's criminal subterfuge with the crisis.
Trump was calling for tighter borders when Dems wanted to open the floodgates.
Let's stop the blame game and get together and try to defeat this thing instead of flinging barbs at the president.

Thank you for your reply @goatprairie I would recommend actually reading my post before responding with a generic one defending President Trump, because what I actually said was he has exceeded my expectations for 8 days straight.

NOBODY is at fault. The freaking VIRUS is at fault, and it is not human.

What I am REALLY pissed about are the alleged humans like the mayor of NYC celebrating this tragedy and using it as a political tool by blaming Trump for it. That's like blaming him for a hurricane.

They are nothing but shameless liars and crooks.

To be accurate, you need to add RINO's to the list of political whores celebrating the virus. They probably hate Trump more than the Dims hate him.
