You are right. Trump is not calling for the same thing as Romney, AOC and the others on the left. There is a distinction.

However, I cannot support either approach. This isn't the responsibility of government. We taxpayers are hurting, too. Making us pay for this is just too much.
I do not support it either.

Neither do I support people who call it the same,

It sounds like you think he should just let the virus take its course and allow the elderly population who are most effected to die off.

Sounds like a great plan!  *****rollingeyes*****

One thing that continues to chaffe me, is that people who have taken responsbility for their economic well being are continously getting  penalized by having to subsidize the entitlement class.  I cringe every time I hear the term free money to the those so called less fortunate.  Just like the recent announcement about forgiving student debt?  I apparently sure screwed up, and saved enough to send my kids to college.   This shit has to end.

A distinction without a difference. It is still socialist redistribution. Arguing about the color of the seat covers is pointless.

Amen...  I can't count how many "b-partisan" gubmit giveaways we've seen in the last 35 years or so.

If the feds are going to send out free money, better to send it to individuals than corporations. From what I've heard, most of the money in the last bailout went to stock buybacks, and not to the employees.

We've got the right guy in Washington, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin. Steve made his fortune from the bailout of IndyMac Bank back in 2008. FDIC gave him a great deal when the bank failed, and he turned that into tens of millions of bucks for him and his cronies.

I don't blame the FDIC, Sheila Bair did a great job, considering the circumstances. It was Hank Paulson and Dubya who bailed out Wall Street, who then turned around and screwed Main Street.

Who's gonna pay for it?
1. Print more money
2. Inflation goes up as the value of a dollar drops, because there are more dollars
3. Your savings aren't going to buy as much as they used to.

This is a tax on your savings.

You can bet the Dis-Loyal Opposition is gonna tack on a whole lot of pork to this bill. I've heard that they might even include stricter gun control laws an' funding for Planned Parenthood.

The only controls I want on my guns are the ones that I operate myself such as trigger, bolt or slide, safety selector, magazine release an' optics. All others are unnecessary an' unwanted.

I just read this morning that schools may be closed for the remainder of the year.  In  my county they have extended it till April 15 and EACH child will be given a chrome notebook in order to connect with the school.  Keep in mind though that NO online classes have been set up!  In addition, a governor who I have liked and I am now questioning has shutdown ALL further testing of students and the parents can elect whether or not to send them on to the next grade level!!  ???  When does this all stop??  This is absolutely ridiculous.  Aren't the kids the ones who supposedly will be affected mildly by this?  So, why are they keeping them out of the school system???

The county commission has declared a state of emergency (we have 7 cases in county), BECAUSE if they don't declare a county emergency they are not eligible for $$ from the feds.  Therefore, libraries, dog parks (seriously), toll booths will be closed.

$10,000,000 question --- when do they plan to open everything back up?

7 cases and we are virtually shutdown.

Yes, I full believe we need to contain this virus and take precautions, but no one has said when they are going to open everything that they are shutting down....meanwhile the feds are bailing out everyone and their brother and every industry and small business.

I'm going to be looking very strongly at the candidate who can plausibly offer me the most to self-quarantine the longest. Both Biden and President Trump have proposed very attractive offers, and after the last three budget years I think I can safely predict a bidding war that will dwarf the imagination.  It looks like President Trump loves Romney's $1000 deal

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/03/17/checks-virus/
Quote
The idea took off Monday when Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called for every American adult to receive a $1,000 check “immediately” to help tide people over until other government aid can arrive. By Tuesday, there was bipartisan support for the idea, including from President Trump. The White House even suggested the amount could be over $1,000, an acknowledgment of how big the economic crisis is becoming.

Maybe even chump change
Quote
A separate proposal by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) would give families with children about $1,500 more for every month the national emergency continues. The payments would be sent to single parents earning up to $50,000 and married parents earning up to $100,000.

Definitely KC steaks can't be beat. As for ribs, we have a guy in the inner city that starts his grill/smoker first thing in the morning ... he feeds those in his neighborhood.  He doesn't have a restaurant front and I've never had the nerve to stop and ask him if I could try some.  Best bq I've had was at an old (slanted floors and tables) restaurant shack in Memphis.  Fall of the bone, melt in your mouth, honest to goodness all day b'que.
If you are ever near Williamsburg Va. Look up Pierces at 447 East Rochambeau Drive or Red Hot & Blue Williamsburg at 1622 Richmond. Outstanding.

So you think it makes no difference giving $1 or $1000 to a person?

You are thinking from an irrational standpoint.

Exactly.  They are stealing value from everyone else by expanding the money supply, making money lose value.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

You are right. Trump is not calling for the same thing as Romney, AOC and the others on the left. There is a distinction.

However, I cannot support either approach. This isn't the responsibility of government. We taxpayers are hurting, too. Making us pay for this is just too much.

Unless it was government that ordered your business closed. A direct relationship exists between the cause of the interrupted cash flow (ordered closures) and who should rightly take the hit. Beyond that there does appear to be a shared, public good in heading off an economic collapse.
