No worries.  The president and congress are going to put together a "stimulus" package that will fix everything.   *****rollingeyes*****

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

One good sign - the market tried to break past last week's lows - on greater volume - and didn't get it done.

Which means they were buying underneath it, and as if right now are driving it up a bit.

Which at least points to some temporary market stability.
The Republic is lost.

IF I had been 20 years younger, not retired, and not relying on investment fixed income, I'd went all in with all liquidity yesterday.
There were some serious bargains out there.

Same here. I went 90 per cent cash/bonds last year and have been kicking myself ever since. UNTIL this happened.

If I were younger, not retired...and more risk tolerant. :yowsa:

Last third of the day looked like actual buying v. short covering or squeezing, and with good volume.

Dow adds 1,167 points as Trump talks economic initiatives

...........Investors were encouraged after President Trump backed “very substantial relief” for the areas of the economy hardest hit by the new coronavirus outbreak.

He said Tuesday he had a "great meeting" with Senate Republicans, and that "there's a great feeling about doing a lot of things.

This followed his remarks on Monday.  “We are going to take care of, and have been taking care of, the American public and the American economy,” Trump said at a White House press briefing where he floated a payroll tax cut, making sure those infected by COVID-19 don’t miss a paycheck and helping embattled industries, such as airlines and cruise operators...............

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
