Based on the antibody testing in New York, essential workers have an even lower rate of infection than the general public.

Yes, those results have been duplicated in some other hot spots, LA and San Francisco to name two, and there are others.  Far more people than expected got infected, got over it and were asymptomatic the whole time (or close enough to it).  Some people will choose to get tested for the antibodies, and some won't.  Our job is to ensure the tyrants don't trample all over the rights of the latter group, and we know they want to do it so badly they can taste it.

It has also been known for decades that it is virtually impossible to protect yourself from a virus that travels through the air,unless you live alone in a cave somewhere in the mountains with no one else living within 50 miles of you.

Getting it or not getting it is simply a matter of luck as much as anything else.

I'd have to drive 1400+ miles past South Main if I wanted to go see.

It is 1400 3/4 miles from my doorstep to Mexico, (on;y 70 to Canada, so maybe I should watch for frostbacks instead, not that we've had much of a problem with that. I don't need to go to Mexico to know it's a free for all down there.
I can't really blame the poor folks for wanting to get out. They lack the tools and the training and the organization to do much about their country, and the Rio Grande would run red with their blood if they tried because they are outgunned.

So how are you gonna fight it and defeat it?
I'm open to suggestions.
About the only thing we have here that will reach is in silos in the prairie I have no access to.
That isn't whining, and it's probably just as well.

As for the poiticians, If you could stack words in a pile, the border would be secure from so much as an ant (They wouldn't be able to get under, through, or over that barrier), but you can't stack promises, and all those promises mean just jack.
Of late some barrier has been built, some has been vastly improved, and some parts don't much need one,but the access road that can be patrolled, the double barrier with the sand strips, and funding for a force with the will and authorization to do so is a good thing. And I never said that wasn't.

But some where on this planet, some sh*tbirds are making a lot of money with things just the way they are, and I'd bet dimes to donuts most of then either have been or are employed in DC. The others are Globalists who can't count their take fast enough, and not one of either group gives a damn about this Country, you, me, or the people down the lane.

I’m conscious that lots of people would like to see and run the pandemic simulation code we are using to model control measures against COVID-19.  To explain the background - I wrote the code (thousands of lines of undocumented C) 13+ years ago to model flu pandemics...

I am happy to say that @Microsoft  and @GitHub  are working with @Imperial_JIDEA  and @MRC_Outbreak
  to document, refactor and extend the code to allow others to use without the multiple days training it would currently require (and which we don’t have time to give)...

They are also working with us to develop a web-based front end to allow public health policy makers from around the world to make use of the model in planning. We hope to make v1 releases of both the source and front end in the next 7-10 days...

That timescale reflects the balancing of those priorities with the multitude of other urgent policy-relevant COVID-19 questions we are addressing....

As well as the partners listed above, I would also like to thank all the other individuals and orgs who have offered to help. It is appreciated, but we only have limited bandwidth to manage such partnerships right now. We hope to bring more partners on board over time.

Once you have a basic plan in place to cover all or most of the existing problems that can be expected to pop up,and you can modify it as needed.

Nothing new about this. Ask any General or Admiral in all of  history if they ever had a concise battle plan that survived the first shot being fired by the other side and didn't have to adapt his original plan.

It is the reality of life and there is nothing that can be done about it other than to prepare a plan flexible enough to be adaptable to changing conditions.

The Slovenian government late on Thursday (14 May) called an official end to its coronavirus epidemic, becoming the first European country to do so, after authorities confirmed less than seven new coronavirus cases each day for the past two weeks.

People now arriving in Slovenia from other European Union states will no longer be obliged to go into a quarantine for at least seven days as was the case from early April, the government said in a statement.

Citizens will still have to follow basic rules to prevent a possible spread of infection, the government said without elaborating.

People have been required to wear masks in indoor public spaces, stand at least 1.5 metres (5 feet) apart and disinfect hands upon entering public spaces.

Since the middle of March, Slovenia has closed all schools, sports and cultural institutions, bars, restaurants, hotels and shops apart from food and drug stores, while cancelling public transport. ...

Just talked with a local infectious disease specialist who saw what could be coming in February and began making plans for a COVID ward, extra PPE's fitted for specific health care workers, coordinating staff that would not go to other wings of the hospital....

That's what sharp leaders do............. they PLAN.

Too many people get tunnel vision and miss things happening right next to them.


I noticed that working with a bunch of archaeology students in a field camp. They had an idea what they were looking for, rather than just seeing what was there.

They walked right over stuff a couple of us could see from 25-30 feet away.
If you just take it in, without looking 'for' something, it's amazing what pops out at you.

With more complex problems, If I get to sleep on it, it's amazing how often I wake up with the solution.

In this modern,complex world of today our conscious minds have so much daily crap to sort through and establish priorities,that it just doesn't have time to sort through the casual "mental clutter" that usually occupies the "back of our minds". It's not essential to the survival of the body,so it gets "parked in the waiting room" and "considered off and on" during the day,as the mind finds free time.

Which is a good thing because it seems like the harder we try to remember some small detail or make sense of something,the less we seem to know about it.

Then you will be walking around,watching tv,eating dinner,driving home from work,etc,etc,etc, and have an "Eureka!" moment.

It has been my experience that the harder I try to remember something,the less likely it is to happen.

It has been my experience that the harder I try to remember something,the less likely it is to happen.

You can imagine my wife's reaction to me sitting up in the middle of the night and saying "Tonopah!"

I had been talking with a friend about a well in the Tikaboo Valley in NV and couldn't remember the name of the airbase the overflying A-10s, C-130s and occasional F-16 were supposedly flying out of. (About 25 miles west of us was Area 51, so who knows for sure. No, I didn't see any UFOs and I worked nights.).
