The goal is to drag this out as long as possible so that a vaccine becomes practical.  If the disease is allowed to run its course naturally, then the population as a whole would have developed a collective immunity large enough to where an epidemic would no longer be a threat and a vaccine would be rendered useless.  But if we keep everyone quarantined and isolated long enough, then the threat of epidemic would still be real, and a vaccine more valuable.

And more of a crime-in-progress, because a vaccine will take over a year to formulate.

We'll have to agree to disagree (agreeably) about the impact of the panic.  The Corona Virus didn't wipe out the stocks of toilet paper in the stores, the panic did.  Just one example, albeit a pretty small one compared to the millions of people just thrown out of work.

It's not "blaming the victim" to note there is panic adversely impacting the country.

I've never said that either there was no panic, nor that panic wasn't adversely impacting the country.  Both of those things are true.

What I am saying is that, information is not panic, careful behavior is not panic, not wanting to get this virus nor give it to anyone else is not panic,  caring about healthcare workers is not panic, and not going around screaming "POLICE STATE!" is not panic.

The panic, however, is secondary to the very basic medical fact....... FACT....... that this is a pernicious, fast spreading virus with unknown health ramifications and people are still dying from it....sometimes only a day or so after their first symptoms.  Understanding that and caring about the shortage of PPE's for our healthcare workers, is not panic.  And those who have gone around here for weeks (albeit not many of them, but persistent and loud) accusing those acquiring knowledge, seeking information and caring for those who are putting their lives on the line to keep the rest of us well,  as being hysterical and ridiculous, are the ones who are failing to blame the actual perp....... the virus itself.

The projected numbers have simply not manifested, except where actions taken by the Democrat leadership has virtually guaranteed the worst case scenario. Even then, it is not as bad as projected. The y don't care, because the dead vote Democrat, anyway.

I was referring to the red tape.  In today's world, Aspirin would not pass muster, and Polio would be running rampant.  Along with Small Pox.

Moscow Stretched 'to Limit' by Virus Cases: Official

Moscow's hospitals and ambulance service are working at peak capacity after a sharp rise in those hospitalized with serious coronavirus complications, a senior city official said Friday.

The densely populated capital with more than 12 million residents has the largest outbreak in Russia, with 7,822 confirmed coronavirus cases out of a national total of almost 12,000.

The number in Moscow's hospitals has doubled since last week and more than 85% of these patients have pneumonia, deputy mayor Anastasia Rakova was quoted as saying on the city virus task force's Telegram account.

Prominent Iran Lawmaker Demands Foreign Ministry To Summon China's Ambassador

Following a war of words between the Islamic Republic Ministry of health and Beijing's Ambassador to Tehran, a prominent member of Majles (Iranian parliament) has called on the country's Foreign Ministry to summon the Chinese envoy to protest his actions.

The lawmaker in question is Ali Motahari, who is ending his term in parliament but in the last three years has often criticized officials and the hardliners for their restrictive policies and use of force.

On April 5, the Islamic Republic Health Ministry spokesman, Kianush Jahanpur, had said at a press briefing that China's statistics about the number of deaths and infections from the coronavirus are "a bitter joke." He added, if Beijing said it got the coronavirus epidemic under control within two months, "one should think very hard [if it is true]."

We won’t allow maltreatment of Nigerians, Gbajabiamila tells Chinese envoy

Following the reported maltreatment of some Nigerians living in China, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has demanded an end to the inhumane treatment of Nigerians living in the Asian country.

He said this when the leadership of the House met with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian on Friday.

Gbajabiamila asked the Chinese envoy to look into viral media reports and videos from Beijing showing Nigerians being forced out of their houses and hotels. The videos further detailed how Nigerians were rounded up and their passports seized by the Chinese police.

Rights Watchdog Says Dozens Of Prisoners Killed In Iran Coronavirus Protests

As many as 36 prisoners in Iran are feared dead after security forces used lethal force to control protests triggered by fears of Covid-19, Amnesty International (AI) said in a statement on Thursday, April 9.

Referring to widespread protests in recent days in different prisons across Iran, AI says that thousands of prisoners in at least eight prisons around the country staged protests over fears of contracting the coronavirus, sparking deadly responses from prison officers and security forces.

“It is abhorrent that instead of responding to prisoners’ legitimate demands to be protected from COVID-19, Iranian authorities have yet again resorted to killing people to silence their concerns,” said Diana Eltahawy, Amnesty International’s Deputy Regional Director of the Middle East and North Africa.

A 22-year-old man, who had returned to Delhi from Madhya Pradesh, has been lynched to death by locals after rumours of him planning to spread coronavirus, the police said on Wednesday. The man had returned from Bhopal in a truck of vegetables after attending a Tablighi Jamaat conference. In the national capital, he was caught by police and released after medical examination, news agency PTI reported.

When he reached his home in the Bawana area of the national capital, rumours spread that he was infected by a coronavirus and had come to Delhi to spread the disease. A group of men attacked him and left for dead. The police took him to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries during the treatment. The Delhi police have registered a case of murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested three accused.

An Epoch Times investigative reporter takes the viewer through the possibilities of how the coronavirus originated.
