For weeks, the Trump administration has tried to dispel panic and bolster confidence in its handling of the coronavirus. But its words and actions seem to be having the opposite effect.

Asked how the administration’s "coronavirus task force" will deal with the 3,500 quarantined passengers of the Grand Princess cruise ship, which is supposed to dock in Oakland, California, on Monday, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson assured ABC’s This Week that the task force, of which he is a member, has a “plan.”

What that plan entails, however, Carson couldn’t say.

“The plan will be in place by that time,” Carson said, admitting that it “hasn’t been fully formulated.” When pressed for details, Carson told ABC News that he does not “want to preview the plan right now.”

I'd give him a break.

How are you going to deal with handling 3,500 people -- any number who may be infected with the virus?
Where are you going to put them?
Who's going to treat them?
Who's going to supervise them for 14-24 days?
How many are even American citizens?
How are you going to cope with "local opposition" to placing so many who might have the virus nearby?

This looks to be a VERY touchy situation.
I can understand why the feds are as yet unsure as to how to handle everything...

If ABC wants to know anything about the government's actions concerning the coronavorus, it should be talking to VP Pence.  And that's what Dr. Carson should have told his interrogators..

Just another way to gin up panic and fear, while slamming Trump and federal efforts in connection with this outbreak.

It should be obvious that CoVir is a natural force more powerful than any plan of the politicos.
As such, speaking loud and clear w/one voice is CRITICAL in getting the attention of the public.
But that ain't what's happening, as first we hear Dr. Who then Dr. What followed by some political jerk.
As if that weren't bad enough, the usual suspects then excuse anything/everything this WH
does/doesn't do; claiming it's all the fault of the Dems!

If I ask a Mercedes mechanic how to fix a toyota, he might have a little difficulty in answering those questions, too.

An anecdote.
A neighbor's nephew took a job in Poland, then put his Merc up for sale that needed work.
He couldn't get a Mercedes mechanic in time; so he took it to a GM shop who did the repairs.
The same earlier buyers told him it was worse than before and offered substantially less.
He finally sold the car getting $8,5000 less for it than initially estimated.
Moral of story: Doctor is a title not a Specialty.

In fairness, Obama's HHS Secretary was preoccupied openly violating the Hatch Act at the time.  There simply isn't enough time in the day to fight epidemics while at the same time using government office and resources to campaign for the President's re-election.
