Make sure to check out the third picture to get an idea of how big an aircraft carrier is.  The B-52 is hardly tiny, but looks small compared to the Ranger which I served Aboard in the early 70s.  She was built in the mid 1950s and weighed  73,000 tons but the new carriers are over 100,000 tons.  She is now doing razor blade duty.
