Ice fisherman catches record-shattering trout in New Hampshire
March 2, 2020

An ice fisherman has shattered the 62-year-old record for the largest lake trout ever caught in New Hampshire. Thomas Knight told the state's Fish and Game Department he had a good feeling that the trout he hauled onto the ice on Big Diamond Pond in West Stewartstown on Tuesday was bigger than the previous record-holder, a 28-lb. trout caught in 1958.

The first scale he used to weigh the massive trout maxed out at 30 lbs., so he took it to a package distribution center, where he found out his catch weighed in at 37.7 lbs.

37.7 pounds, I'm surprised it would be that light.

It makes a good one-time family meal, that's for sure.
But, it is a shame he got caught.
I would much rather have that big feller out there, makin' babies.
I want a whole lake full with those guys.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

We don't generally like Macs up in here. Too oily. Make alright in the smoke, but with rainbow, cuts, brookies and kokanee around, Macs play second fiddle.

Now for a tasty lake trout, That'd be Dolly Varden. Some folks call em Bull Trout. Wunnerful fish. Beats the pants off a Mac. Used to be here in my youth, but they have been protected for the last twenty years or so...

MT F&G killed em off with most the salmon introducing Micinae shrimp into the big lake. Decimated em... And what's left is under heavy pressure from Northern Pike getting into the drainage some how... Nobody's admitting to that flustercluck.  **nononono*
