Mom Whose Son Was Murdered By an Illegal Is Running for Congress—and Against Sanctuary Law

A mother whose son was murdered by an illegal alien in 2002 has decided to run for Congress after working to get his murderer deported.

Agnes Gibboney, whose son Ronald Da Silva was shot and killed in 2002 by an illegal immigrant in California, decided to get into politics after the killer, Luis Gonzales, a Mexican national and confirmed gang member, was released from prison after serving a stint for voluntary manslaughter. Gibboney was able to get him deported and felt empowered because of the experience.

Gibboney is running in a district that neighbors Los Angeles and took issue with Mayor Eric Garcetti's support for his city's police department refusing to coordinate with ICE and participating in immigration enforcement.
"He is saying he's protecting the immigrant community," she told Fox & Friends. "Well, the immigrant community has no fears or concerns about Trump's policy."

Gibboney is running in CA's 31st Congressional District, currently represented by Pete Aguilar. She may have quite a challenge, as Aguilar won the most recent election with 58% of the vote.
