5 Hospitalized After Stung by Swarm of 40,000 Bees in California

Time By Madeleine Carlisle February 22, 2020

Two firefighters, one police officer and two civilians were hospitalized after being stung by a swarm of up to 40,000 bees in Pasadena, Calif., on Thursday. The swarm occurred outside of the Howard Johnson Hotel across the street from Pasadena City College.

Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian tells TIME that the department was the first to arrive to treat a civilian, unaware of the size of the swarm. The first firefighter on the scene received up to 15 to 20 bee stings. Derderian said the bright yellow on their uniforms “didn’t help” because bees are attracted to the bright color; the bees then attacked the firefighter’s face and hands. Once the fire department understood the situation, backup began arriving in bee protective clothing.

Because the swarm occurred across the street from Pasadena City College, there were numerous bystanders. On top of the five people who went to the hospital, other were stung but chose not to get treatment.

The fire department called the police to help set up traffic control, so they could close part of the street to address the swarm. Derderian said the first policeman to arrive didn’t realize the severity of the situation and also was stung the moment he got out of the car.

Bees' Lives Matter.

More seriously, I hope the PPD and PFD people are OK.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

I must of been 5 or 6 or so, chasing a friend thru the weeds and ran right into a yellow jacket nest. They nailed me all over my chest neck and face.

Bees are good guys.

There are psycho bees just as there are psycho humans.   I've been stung twice by such psycho bees... and annoyed by many others.

I was out in my boat with some friends on Galveston Bay cruising around. And each time we stopped a yellow jacket would be buzzing around us. One young  teenager would freakout at the sight of the wasp. So I'd fire up the outboard and cruise some more. After I stopped again, in a little while that wasp would reappear and she would freakout again. Move, stop, freakout. Move, stop, freakout. We then asked the young lady if she was allergic? No. Ever bitten? No. So what's the big deal? So I looked around and found its tiny nest and pitched it overboard. But we sure scolded her for making a big deal about a pesky wasp.

Bee Stings – Toxic Effects and Allergy

https://bindaree.com.au/hints/bee-stings/

Quote
There is widespread fear of bees in the community. This not only because bee stings hurt, but  because many people believe that they are allergic to them when they swell up after a sting. The fact is that true allergy is relatively rare, estimated as 0.3 to 0.5% of the population. Nevertheless, it is a serious problem, accounting for approximately one death per year in Australia and 40 per year in the USA .

It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the two types of effects of bee stings; those due to the toxic or poisonous properties of bee venom itself, ( the normal response to a sting ), and, those due to allergy to the venom ( the abnormal response, allergy or hypersensitivity).

Fatality solely due to the toxic effects of the venom itself is extremely rare, the lethal dose being estimated as 192 stings per kilogram body weight, which translates as approximately 1400 stings for the average male and 1100 for a female. However, death has been recorded after as few as 50 stings. For what it is worth, 500 beestings equate to a rattle snake bite!

In contrast, in a person truly allergic to bee venom a single sting is potentially fatal.

So, what is the difference, why are beestings so dangerous to some people while relatively harmless to the vast majority?
