Anderson Cooper calls 'bulls--t' in heated Blagojevich interview
By Brooke Seipel - 02/21/20 09:42 PM EST

CNN's Anderson Cooper clashed with former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) in a heated interview Friday night, with Cooper calling "bullshit" on Blagojevich as they talked about his prosecution.

This week, President Trump commuted Blagojevich's 14-year sentence after eight years behind bars. Blagojevich's return home from prison was at the center of the interview Friday night before it quickly devolved.

The arguing escalated after Blagojevich alleged he was the target of "corrupt prosecutors” when he was charged with corruption, including attempted extortion.

https://thehill.com/homenews/media/484163-anderson-cooper-calls-bullshit-in-heated-blagojevich-interview

Blagojevich calls himself a "political prisoner".  He was convicted and impeached in his own state.  He tries to say he should have done more about criminal justice reform.

Well I guess this is the fruit of Trumps presidency.  A criminal who blames the criminal justice system for his own crime.

Cooper was disgraceful.  Blago honestly doesn't think he did anything wrong, and, in his world, he didn't.  Democrats have done that stuff for years and been rewarded with praise and election wins.  He served 8 years for stuff the current democrat congress has gotten by with in just the last year. As long as Hillary, Obama, SChiff, Pelosi, etal roam the earth, well, Blago is saint in comparison.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

No wonder Trump decided to commute Blago's sentence.  They are kindred spirits.  Always complaining about being persecuted.   *****rollingeyes*****

I'm no fan of Cooper or Blago, but I think this "woe is me.  I was unjustly treated" schtick gets old after a while.  Yes, there are probably quite a few others out there who have done maybe worse than Blago.  But they aren't in prison because, unlike Blago, they have not been investigated, arrested, tried and convicted.  Just because these people have not gone through the process doesn't mean that Blago should not have.

One can argue about it all they want, but the fact is Blago was convicted of crimes and belonged in prison.  Notice I said "crimes" -- plural.  It wasn't just the attempt to sell Obama's old senate seat.  It was demonstrated that Blago had a habit of selling lots of things.  He extorted money; he committed mail and wire fraud.  Blago was a bad dude.  Doesn't matter that he was the one who ended up in prison and not others.  He committed crimes, so he needed to be punished.

Or are we supposed to let criminals off the hook because they are chummy with someone like Stone and Manafort, who were close allies of Trump's?  I always though it was the liberal/socialist Democrats who thought that way.

Agreed. Blago never took one penny or gift from anyone, yet he was set up for destruction by Obama’s FBI and DOJ in what we now recognize as Obama’s infamous, politically motivated “electronic surveillance.”

Blago was overcharged and over sentenced. Fourteen years was outrageous and I’m glad Trump saw fit to mitigate it.

He was found guilty of extortion, so I'd say he took some money, or at least tried to.

The Dems have been bending the law for a long time with no consequences.  Blago had the book thrown at him.  Anderson is an impertinent smuck.  Never understand why anyone would watch the fool.

And a few Republicans have been caught too, while others may have done wrong, but were never investigated.  This sort of thing cuts across party lines.  Contrary to what some might think, Republicans are not as pure as the driven snow.

Cooper wasn't disgracefully Blago was.  He should shut up and be thankful that he didn't have to serve the full time for his crimes.

Not much difference.  Sad, and the swamp is getting thicker.

And the difference is.... DemocRats want to cover up any and all "impurities", while Republicans want it exposed and the perps thrown out or at least voted out of office.

Even so.... I'd make bank on 80-90% of those sexual abuse payoffs from that ""secret fund"" in DC being due to DemocRats doing what DemocRats always do.

Blago is a Democrat.  Convicted in his own state and impeached.

There are republicans who are just as corrupt as the rats - most, maybe. The difference being some are actually prosecuted. And when they or any others are its always the rat hierarchy's choice. Usually because the target hold a seat the rats need, or as in Blago's case, they crossed the wrong rat muckymuck.

Bottom line is prosecutions happen only at the rats discretion.

Who would have thought that criticizing Democrat scum like Blagojevich would ever in a millions years get you pummeled on a Conservative forum?

What a world we live in!

The lines between the once different parties has now been blurred beyond distinction.

And ya know, probably at the time Blago was arrested, tried, convicted and imprisoned, most of those people were cheering.  Or at least they were silent.  Didn't hear them carrying on about how Blago was railroaded, blah, blah, blah.

But now that Trump has ordered his early release and two seem to have the same persecution complex, Blago is now the poor, mistreated innocent -- just like Trump's poor, mistreated ally, Roger Stone.

Absolutely.  Stunning is the only way I can describe the change in values for the Republican party.  Yes there has always been corruption in the Republican party too, but they never made excuses for it.  They never would have made excuses for liberal scum like Blago.  And that is not the only thing they are willing to sacrifice.  Its family on the line here.  It was a few short years ago that Republicans stood for the meaning of marriage being one man and one woman.  We would have never considered any homosexual candidate for president.  I can't for the life of me see what we have gained, outside of New York values.

What is really disturbing is that this has become Trumps party.  A party based on fear and total loyalty.  At the most Trump has 4 more years.  What will happen to the party after Trump?  After all moral value is destroyed and we are left with the dry bones of a party without meaning.

My guess is that Junior will run in 2024. so Trump, even though technically out of office, will still be running things  I see the makings of a royal family here and I don't like royal families.  The Founding Fathers didn't like royalty either, which is why this country was set up purposely as a republic, not a monarchy.
