Republicans keep Texas district targeted by Democrats in special election
By
Don Jacobson

Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Republicans have kept control of a Texas House seat after a special runoff election fight that was considered by many a bellwether for Democratic hopes of flipping the chamber in November.

Republican businessman Gary Gates defeated Democratic educator Eliz Markowitz Tuesday night in the race to serve the rest of retiring Republican John Zerwas' term. Gates won with 52 percent of the vote for the seat representing a portion of suburban Houston. Markowitz won 42 percent in the vote for the traditionally GOP seat.

That 10-point margin of victory was roughly twice that which Zerwas received in 2018. Gates will now serve as representative of Texas House District 28 until November's regular election, keeping the seat under Republican control in spite of a nationally watched effort by Democrats to take it.

The Dems threw the kitchen sink at this and still lost by 10 points.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Beto is Kryptonite when it comes to elections yet the Dems keep throwing good money after bad and losing badly.  I hope they don't stop anytime soon using Robert Francis as the "face" of the Democrat Party in Texas.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

I pray the Dems keep doing this. And I pray they keep using Beto as a spokesperson.

I read somewhere on this forum about the use of an electoral college in states.  I like the idea. Why should the cities rule? But how do we do it?

I'd imagine it would require amending the particular State Constitutions.

Break the State up into legislative districts, and have the number of electors equal to the total of Representatives and Senators per district.  For the District races it will make no difference, but for State-wide elections the winner would be the candidate with the most electoral votes.  A district with a huge lopsided vote would get the same number of votes as a narrowly won District.

A Governor would have to campaign in more Districts that way.
