This is what I thought I heard, protests in Baghdad against the USA? Well, a sizeable faction backed out.

Populist Iraqi cleric Moqtaqa al-Sadr on Sunday called off demonstrations against the US embassy “to avoid internal strife,” his office said.

Meanwhile, it looks like Muqtada al-Sadr preemptively distanced himself from attacks on the US. Does this mean he’s tacking back toward the protestors, or just being all things to all people? Dunno. |
