According to Anita Kumar on Wednesday, the trade deal, which she labeled as "modest," is merely a distraction from impeachment. In fact, that is exactly what the title of her article says, "Trump hypes modest China deal, distracting from impeachment."

Let me see if I get Politico's claim clearly. Trump started working toward this deal in early-mid 2017 to provide a distraction from impeachment in early 2020?

What should scare Politico is that China agreeing to this may signal that China expects Trump will be reelected. Otherwise they'd hold out for a push-over Dem.
