Trump's Decisive Actions Helped Save Lives During Coronavirus Epidemic, Experts Admit
By Matt Margolis February 29, 2020

Democrats and the media may be trying to pile the bogus attacks on Trump over the United States' response to the coronavirus epidemic, but Trump should be getting credit for acting decisively and taking action that likely saved lives, even though it was a politically unpopular move to make. New York Times science reporter Donald G. McNeil Jr. noted that the Trump administration took "aggressive measures like barring entry to non-Americans who were recently in China and advising Americans not to go to China or South Korea," and that this strategy worked, despite the fact that the World Health Organization officially opposes travel and trade restrictions, and "reiterated that even as it declared the epidemic a global emergency on Jan. 30."

Republican Senator Tom Cotton said on Friday that “The single most consequential and valuable thing done to stop this virus from already spreading throughout the United States was when President Trump decided to shut down travel to China last month." He also acknowledged that “the so-called experts who opposed the decision at the time” eventually admitted that it “bought valuable time to prevent the spread of this virus in the United States.”

He's absolutely right. The World Health Organization admits the strategy helped saved lives.

Fun subject of the day: How Coronavirus kills

JoNova 03/01/2020

http://joannenova.com.au/2020/03/69670/

No seriously, this is matter-of-fact, youtube-at-its-best, concise, cartoony, and smart.

Think of doctors as Body-Engineers. The problem to solve today Engineer-readers — is how to keep blood supply oxygenated when lungs are highly inflamed, filling with fluid, and the delicate thin membranes of lung tissue can’t cope with the sheer forces of rapid collapse and expansion. As well, if oxygen levels drop, even unconscious patients will breathe involuntarily — out of synch with artificial ventilation machines. The sensation of suffocation creates the urge to breath faster and harder.

The great news is ICU staff are getting much better at keeping people alive when they get ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) which can happen with other diseases (like Influenza). Seems, the ICUs can keep 84% alive while they wait for the inflammation to subside and the damage to heal. Though the DIY version at home probably won’t be so effective.

Nigeria apparently got a case, this must be it, an Italian who went to Nigeria on business:

Coronavirus: Lagos begins training of 342 indigenous medic workersBy Nwafor Sunday

Why the Italian man diagnosed with coronavirus in Nigeria came to the country has been revealed. Lafarge Africa Plc, a cement manufacturer company in Ogun State, has on Sunday gave reason the company invited the forty-four year-old Italian man to the country.

Segun Soyoye, Lafarge’s Industrial Director, said the man came to Nigeria, precisely Ewekoro in Ogun state to inspect some installations of machines bought from a Swedish firm.

He said, “The Italian came for a business visit. He was in Lagos on Monday and slept at Airport Hotel, Ikeja. Our driver took him there, and when we observed abnormal temperatures and symptoms, we quickly instituted an Emergency Response Team which is led by the Company CEO; we have to find a way of analysing and identifying not only the Italian but also the other contacts.

China officials knew of coronavirus in December, ordered cover-up, report says
By Sara Dorn  February 29, 2020

Chinese scientists knew about the coronavirus and its deadly effects as early as December — but were ordered by government officials to suppress the evidence, according to a report.

In late December, several genomics companies tested samples from sick patients in Wuhan — the center of the coronavirus outbreak — and noticed alarming similarities between their illnesses and the 2002 SARS virus, the Sunday Times of London reported, citing Chinese business news site Caixin Global.

The researchers alerted Beijing of their findings — and on Jan. 3, received a gag order from China’s National Health Commission, with instructions to destroy the samples.

The church or sect for whichever is more proper,  is claiming they are being persecuted.

Murder probe sought for South Korea sect at center of coronavirus outbreak

SEOUL (Reuters) - The government of Seoul asked for a murder investigation into leaders of a Christian sect at the center of the country’s deadly coronavirus outbreak, saying the church was liable for its refusal to cooperate with efforts to stop the disease.

A large majority of the more than 4,000 confirmed cases of the South Korean outbreak, the largest outside China and still growing, have been linked to the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a secretive movement that reveres founder Lee Man-hee.

Park Won-soon, mayor of the capital Seoul, said if Lee and other leaders of the church had cooperated, effective preventive measures could have saved those who later died of the virus.

Well it's unsurprising if people are erroneously acting like this is just another flu. It's not. If it were, China wouldnt be "getting rid" of sick people w/o treating them. Reports already coming out in HK virus stays for life. That's why I say a cure is of utmost importance.

Stays for life? Anyway, on the look out for this.  I'll have to read her advice more closely.  Some people have indeed, overcome it.

Anyway most of this I've already covered and I don't want to regurgitate because there are only so many times I'm sure one can say these things "delicately." In sum nothing about this virus is natural and do everything possible to avoid catching it. That's the gist of it.

That said, Hong Kong still looks relatively low per stats and I mean, they are right there near the hot spot.

Adviser to Iran's Supreme leader dies from coronavirus, as other top officials infected

An adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died from the new coronavirus, as other top officials in the country are confirmed to be infected, according to multiple reports on Monday.

The Iranian Health Ministry recorded 523 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's known total to 1,501. They mark a 53 percent increase since the day before.

Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, was an Expediency Council member who advised Khamenei and settled disputes between him and parliament. COVID-19 has already infected Iran's vice president and deputy health minister.

His death comes after the government on Monday rejected help from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who announced last week the U.S. was concerned Iran may have covered up details on the spread of the virus.

It's suppose to be good for the immune system, that "Emergen-C", well, I have the Walgreen's brand in ample supply.

And then, there is that other over-the-counter brand, I forget the name but I am sure it works well too.  I think I will try to take it two times a day because it really can work.

And Iran, yes, I've seen they are spraying the streets with disinfectant.

Sen. Marco Rubio: China's coronavirus deception put world at risk
By Yael Halon | Fox News

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., blamed China's failure to share necessary information that could have contained the coronavirus for putting the world at risk as more countries reported their first death from the virus over the weekend.

"The way you deal with a global pandemic is, you become transparent and you share information beginning with the actual virus," Rubio told "Sunday Morning Futures."

"You share the virus because researchers around the world can start working on the bases of that and developing treatments and vaccines... they didn't do that," he added.

True dat.  The masks I've seen in all these pictures from Asia and elsewhere are worthless at warding off viral exposure.  The masks are intended to be worn by people who are coughing, and medical personnel to prevent contaminating the patients.

As I suspected from the start, the virus gets airborne by hitching a ride on expelled spittle, it doesn't just float in the air by itself.  Shield the coughs and sneezes from the inside of the mask, not the outside.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Washington State, reported that there had been 2 deaths as of yesterday, that's up to 4 today.  It's a bit hard what to make of such small figures still when the normal flu seems to take a huge toll every  year. Nonetheless.

"Seattle-area officials report new coronavirus deaths, bringing US total to 6"
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/02/seattle-area-officials-report-3-new-coronavirus-deaths-bringing-us-total-to-5.html

Maybe one death has been in California, I'm not sure. The article does not say.
