Useful Idiots on the Right: The Never Trumpers

One could perhaps have excused them their earlier indiscretions of November 2016.  He was, after all, an unknown quantity, an outsider of questionable conservative pedigree.  Indeed, Donald Trump had been a fairly typical New York liberal Democrat for much of his life.  And he had led a less than stellar moral life.  And so the pile-on at the time by National Review and others could perhaps have been forgiven, although not really, when one considered the alternative.  As I had written at the time:

    Do we not grow weary of the sanctimonious ones?  The Never Trumpers that endlessly hector and scold, and hold themselves up as paragons of moral virtue? They display their good taste by showing contempt for Trump and his supporters.  Some of them claim they will vote down ballot, skipping the Presidential slot, or vote for Evan what’s his name (McMullin).  Some will write in a candidate or go Libertarian, neither of who will have any chance of winning.  Other pious Republicans will even cast their vote for Hillary.

Not really sure what purpose this can serve other than to rehash the exact same arguments already repeatedly endless here.  Except with the added bonus of the "idiots" label to kick things off in a particularly nasty direction.

Only 'purpose' that I can see... it shows that our superior, years' long POV on this argument has gone mainstream.

as do many members of the Tump Fan Club. Hey they're entitled, so no big deal.
They see Trump as their messiah, leading us to a nirvana of sweetness and light;
while anyone disagreeing is some sorta sanctimonious moron and useful idiot. Hmm.....
But reality intervenes as Trump's attitudes and behaviors since he was an early teen;
which have never changed; paint a lima/charlie picture of him.
Heraclitus, 26 centuries past, asserted that "Character was Destiny".
Trump is indeed a character yet he is devoid of Character, as he demonstrates daily,
and this is the essential driver behind the relenthless turmoil of our politics.

Maybe eating a piece of pie is not all that good for me, but eating one slice is better than eating the whole pie. So, how to relate that to politics?

It also depends on the type of pie.  Apple/Raspberry is pretty hard to beat if you're talking fruit pies, followed by Strawberry Rhubarb.  Pumpkin and Pecan pies are hard to beat if you're talking custard type pies.

All in all though its pretty darn hard to beat a wonderfully delicious mouth-watering piece of dark chocolate cake with chocolate mousse in the middle topped with dark chocolate ganache.

I like pie.  Pumpkin is my favorite, but I'll go after a Marie Callender's Chocolate Silk any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
