Revealed: Identity of top FBI official who leaked secret information to media
by Jerry Dunleavy
 | January 10, 2020 06:27 PM

The name of a former top FBI official who leaked sensitive information over the course of hundreds of communications with at least six reporters can be revealed by the Washington Examiner.

His identity is contained in a 21-page report obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. The report reveals that investigators for Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz determined that Bryan Paarmann, 53, the deputy assistant director of the FBI’s international operations division from 2016 to 2017, “improperly disclosed court-sealed and law enforcement sensitive information to the media” in violation of FBI rules.

The incident is one Horowitz included as part of what his June 2018 report called the FBI’s “culture of unauthorized media contacts.” A one-page summary of the investigation was released last May.

But Paarmann defended his actions.

And yet, as always, nobody will go to jail over this. The reason there are so many 'leaks' (which is really just a form of espionage), is because there are never any real consequences. These guys, and there are dozens or even hundreds of them, accept some form of compensation to divulge confidential information usually about any decision or program that they personally disagree with. The intent and goal of this is to sabotage projects by publicizing them with some kind of negative spin which is normally a lie or a distortion. They are attempting to hijack policies to make them what they want them to be. It is a usurpation of authority by Deep State operators or in many cases Presidential Staff.

Even when the leakers are exposed, it is very rare that anything will happen. They may get censure. They may lose their position either permanently or temporarily. Normally they will retain their clearance and will become a consultant with CNN, Wapo, NYT, or NBC using the same connections they made by leaking. With a Republican Administration, and especially with Trump, the number of 'leaks' (or what I call spying) has skyrocketed. They may be removed, retired, or terminated (with retirement and benefits), but with people as powerful, connected, and as wealthy as these are, this becomes nothing more than an inconvenience. It is a slap on the wrist.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

Romney crony. (the FBI used to recruit Mormons, for their clean lifestyles)

He could have been Evan McMuffin, among the former FBBI/CIA agents apparently working for Comey/Brennan to frame and bring down Trump.

@truth_seeker

Pretty ironic when you consider the life-style of Eleanor June Hoover,and her husband/wife Clyde Tolson.

Isn't leaking secret information illegal?

If it is, why is this guy not in jail?

@IsailedawayfromFR

Because he has information that could harm the political careers of important people,and this makes him "more equal" than you or I.

Right. It is likely he can leak other damaging things about other people. Knowledge is power, after all. Too much can be a liability, as Jeffery Epstein found out.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

  • Dems-greatest existential threat to USA republic!
Throw them in prison and lose the key.  This is where we have lost any sanity too.  People doing this should lose everything...literally everything.  Seize every asset, strip them of any pensions, etc and imprison them for ten years, not subject to early release.  And if lives were lost, mandatory dispatch to hell.

Our failure to deal with these people is an excellent example of how we have weakened as a nation.

If one of us "civilians" had pulled this, we'd be in orange coveralls and not looking at daylight for a while.
Those who are supposed to KNOW BETTER, who are supposed to ENFORCE the LAW, should be held to at least an equal standard as the rest of Americans.
