House passes measure seeking to limit Trump on Iran
By Rebecca Kheel - 01/09/20 06:03 PM EST

The House on Thursday approved a measure aimed at restricting President Trump’s ability to go to war with Iran, a day after a number of lawmakers expressed frustration at the briefing where the administration provided its arguments for a drone strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

In a largely party-line vote of 224-194, the House passed a war powers resolution that would direct the president to end military hostilities with Iran unless Congress specifically authorizes it or the United States faces an “imminent armed attack.”

The measure would not need Trump’s signature because it’s what’s known as a “concurrent resolution.” But that has also left Democrats open to criticism that the resolution is just a messaging bill since concurrent resolutions are typically nonbinding, though their use to force the end of military hostilities under the War Powers Act is untested in court.

How odd is that? Congress seems to be declaring that attacks on U.S. Armed Forces does not constitute an attack on the United States?
The terrorist Trump killed was an enemy soldier in an ongoing war against America and all Western Nations. He was directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of U.S. Troops, civilians, and other Allies in the war. He was in process of attacking a U.S. Embassy when he was terminated.

What on Earth more could he have possibly done to conduct an imminent armed attack on the United States? 'Imminent armed attack on the United States' was his whole life. It is what he lived for and died for. This guy wasn't targeted randomly for no reason. He was certainly an imminent deadly threat to the United States and to the world in general.

I would interpret the wording of this censure (or whatever it is?) as a "justification" of the strike, instead of a condemnation.

Kindly wake up as this was a non-binding resolution to avoid a Senate NO!

Eight Democrats vote against curbing Trump war powers in Iran

by Daniel Chaitin

January 09, 2020 07:52 PM

A small pack of House Democrats voted against a nonbinding resolution to curb President Trump’s authority to use military force against Iran.

The measure, which directs Trump "pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to terminate the use of United States Armed Forces to engage in hostilities in or against Iran," passed in a 227-191 vote on Thursday.

The resolution will not reach the president’s desk, but it sent a signal that Democrats lack confidence in Trump’s actions against Iran, specifically his decision to kill Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike last week.

Eight Democrats broke ranks and voted against it:

•Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey
•Kendra Horn of Oklahoma
•Joe Cunningham of South Carolina
•Elaine Luria of Virginia
•Ben McAdams of Utah
•Stephanie Murphy of Florida
•Anthony Brindisi and Max Rose of New York

Obama had a 'Kill List', as it was called. He was throwing cruise missiles and drone strikes all over the Middle East, killing thousands, and he loved it. He once bragged while giggling, "I'm very good at killing people." I know SF soldiers who are not that cold.

And nobody but him knows who these people were. The 'List' was never approved by the Military, the CIA, Intelligence, or anybody except Obama.
Since we know that Obama was an active supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group and a passive supporter of ISIS, you have to wonder where did this 'list' come from? Who gave it to him? How could he come up with it totally on his own with no support from the U.S. Military or American Intelligence Agencies?

Was Obama killing terrorists? Or was he killing people in opposition of the MB and ISIS? We will never know. Nobody knows who he killed? But we know for sure that whoever they were, they were certainly NOT Muslim Brotherhood, or ISIS, or Hamas, or Hezbollah, or Iranians. Those guys are his peeps.

I don't care that the resolution is worthless, it's a damn shame 3 republicans voted with Nazi Botox. I'm starting to think Gaetz is a showboat and did it for the attention.

The measure would not need Trump’s signature because it’s what’s known as a “concurrent resolution.”

Quote
The concurrent resolution, introduced by Michigan Democrat Elissa Slotkin, "is such a joke," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News's Laura Ingraham Wednesday night.

McCarthy noted that Slotkin has introduced a concurrent resolution, which does not require the signature of the president and does not have the force of law. By contrast, a joint resolution, such as the War Powers Act, does require the president’s signature and does have the force of law.

"You've got to understand how they're bringing it up. It's con(current) resolution. This is the same type of resolution we use to do a soap box derby on Capitol Hill," McCarthy said. "It doesn't go to the president. It means nothing."

Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga, was on Lou Dobbs yesterday talking about this bill.  He said rats were doing it because "they're in love with terrorists.  We see that they mourn Soleimani more than our gold star families"

Is that why these GOP congressmen voted for the bill?
