Venezuela police block Guaido's access to parliament for vote

Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido hit out at the police on Sunday for preventing him from attending a National Assembly session where he hoped to be voted in for a second term as parliament speaker.

But when he arrived Sunday morning he was prevented from entering by police carrying out a security operation.

"This is unprecedented!" Guaido told a member of the security forces with whom he had a heated exchange.

There is quite a bit of action down there now. I believe they are physically keeping Juan Guiado from entering the parliament.

MIAMI - Venezuela's Juan Guaido told a large crowd of cheering expatriates in Miami on Saturday that he will soon make his return to Caracas from an international tour, bringing with him the "world's backing" to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

"We have a plan. We have a strategy," Guaido said. "We're not alone, and we're going to restore democracy."

The opposition leader bent on unseating the socialist president, however, presented few details for executing this plan upon returning, saying additional sanctions are "the only strategy" available.

The massive Venezuelan diaspora and the Latin community held a meeting with the Venezuelan President in Charge  Juan Guaidó in Miami on Saturday.

The  President  thanked the US Senators, Republican and Democrat congressmen and women and political leaders who came out to support the Venezuelan cause.

Guaidó told the Latino crowd,  “International aid is necessary to end the Maduro regime.”

Honestly, all the Venezuelan people can do is put up a stiff upper lip, nothing is going to change in all likelihood, I can read a lot on twitter and things are going nowhere.

Could something happen in 2021 after Trump is elected to a 2nd term? Maybe. But the real situation is gloomy.
