Venezuela police block Guaido's access to parliament for vote
AFP

Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido hit out at the police on Sunday for preventing him from attending a National Assembly session where he hoped to be voted in for a second term as parliament speaker.

But when he arrived Sunday morning he was prevented from entering by police carrying out a security operation.

"This is unprecedented!" Guaido told a member of the security forces with whom he had a heated exchange.

There is quite a bit of action down there now. I believe they are physically keeping Juan Guiado from entering the parliament.

Here is some of that action:

How could #MaduroRegime think they would get away with this sham?

Within minutes #Brazil the first (of many to come) who witnessed them using force to prevent @jguaido
from entering National Assembly declares this a total fraud.

These people are really dumb!

Updating this thread:

I am hearing, that Juan Guiado is appearing in Miami today, 2/1/2020.

Okay, here is some info,  more than 7,000 people awaiting Guiado at the convention center in Miami.

Receiving the key to the city apparently.

Apparently, he meets with Sen. Rubio today, little in the English-language press on this.

Guaido Rallies Venezuelan Expats in Miami at End of Tour
By Associated Press
February 01, 2020 09:34 PM

MIAMI - Venezuela's Juan Guaido told a large crowd of cheering expatriates in Miami on Saturday that he will soon make his return to Caracas from an international tour, bringing with him the "world's backing" to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

"We have a plan. We have a strategy," Guaido said. "We're not alone, and we're going to restore democracy."

The opposition leader bent on unseating the socialist president, however, presented few details for executing this plan upon returning, saying additional sanctions are "the only strategy" available.

Congratulations to @jguaido
for his successful rally in Miami this weekend.  The U.S. stands with the people of Venezuela.  The sooner Maduro is gone, the sooner is the possibility of justice and real economic growth for the Venezuelan people.

“We Must Eradicate this Cancer of Socialism” – President Guaidó in Florida: We must Consolidate a Free and Democratic Hemisphere
by Elda Primera February 2, 2020

The massive Venezuelan diaspora and the Latin community held a meeting with the Venezuelan President in Charge  Juan Guaidó in Miami on Saturday.

The  President  thanked the US Senators, Republican and Democrat congressmen and women and political leaders who came out to support the Venezuelan cause.

Guaidó told the Latino crowd,  “International aid is necessary to end the Maduro regime.”

Honestly, all the Venezuelan people can do is put up a stiff upper lip, nothing is going to change in all likelihood, I can read a lot on twitter and things are going nowhere.

Could something happen in 2021 after Trump is elected to a 2nd term? Maybe. But the real situation is gloomy.

They rolled out the red carpet for Guiado, I don't see it getting traction unfortunately, he also met with Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

She spoke at the rally:

Also met with Debbie Murcasel Powell who was born in Ecuador, Democratic congresswoman.

Met Rick Scott:

It doesn't seem to be happening, now Guiado will be at the SOTU.

Trump and special envoy Elliot Abrams sound upbeat enough. I hope it is well-founded.

Venezuela's Juan Guaidó cheered at US Congress speech

Juan Guaidó was one of US President Donald Trump's special guests at his State of the Union speech.

The Venezuelan opposition leader got a standing ovation from both Democrats and Republicans in a rare unifying moment during President Trump's speech.

Sounds like Juan Guiado is fine but it does sound like some thugs opened fire on a car he was in.  Developing.
