Bernie Sanders is starting to scare them

Democrats are coming to the slow, unpleasant realization that maybe it's going to be Bernie Sanders who ends up as their nominee.

That's the story from Politico, which reports that Democrats are getting the willies:

    Suddenly, Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign is being taken seriously.

    For months, the Vermont senator was written off by Democratic Party insiders as a candidate with a committed but narrow base who was too far left to win the primary. Elizabeth Warren had skyrocketed in the polls and seemed to be leaving him behind in the race to be progressive voters’ standard-bearer in 2020.

    But in the past few weeks, something has changed. In private conversations and on social media, Democratic officials, political operatives and pundits are reconsidering Sanders’ chances.

The leftists are selling a picture of socialism that the young are buying into. Socialism is always appealing to the uninformed because it is supposedly founded in sympathy for those that have less. We have a younger generation that has not been taught history. They don't know about the forced famines in the USSR. The threat of global thermal nuclear war. How significant the tearing down of the Berlin wall was and the freeing of Eastern Europe from the tyranny of socialism. They don't know of the gulags in the United Soviet Socialist Republic. They don't know about Pol Pot and the Khmer Rogue, or the re-education camps in Red China.

The reality is socialism always leads to murderous tyrants leading cruel govts that kill and destroy lives.

Why would the Dems fear The Bern's lunacy more than any other Dem candidate-wannabe's lunacy?

I'm with you! It's stunning to me that in a generation a country can lose all historical perspective. Socialism is evil. It destroys everything it touches.

You nailed it.  I read that article and the premise has credibility.
It seems to me, the other candidates aren't registering enmass with voters. Due to that, Biden is on and off again, gaining some points, and losing points. 

Bernie Sanders is solid.  He is now what he has always been - no sliding around, no changing message, he is what he is and all Dems know it.  The voter knows exactly where Sanders stands on all issues.  He is a safe vote for Dems.

Debate with Trump: Sanders has his message down solid within him and can talk fast and make sense.  He would be the best one to counter Trump in a debate.

Not sure what Trump would "name/label" and use to "trash" Sanders.  I don't recall he has said much or anything about Sanders.  If Sanders starts rising in the polls, this will change.

Attention to all including @sneakypete : Because I wrote the possibilities of Sanders rising in the polls, does not mean I would vote for him.

To me the most frightening thing about Bernie is that AOC is campaigning with him and her continuing popularity. Two socialists in a pod.  She won't be eligible to run in 2020 but she will be by 2024; bet on her running.

Sanders may get some traction, but he does not go the distance.  He is an avowed communist.  Democratic socialism is nothing more than semantics.  He is a commie, and there is no way people will vote for him.  Just not happening.

Plus, Sanders coming on strong makes it all the more certain HR Clinton comes to save the day, save the party from itself.
