When will this gesture be reciprocated? Never. “Interfaith dialogue” is not conducted in search of genuine religious rapprochement. It is designed simply to make Christians feel good about how Christlike and non-bigoted they are (in their own view), while the Muslims can go away satisfied that the Christians are again submitting to them.

The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Muslim sensibilities.

“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)

The old Popester is getting pretty tight with the religion sworn to kill all people of the book.  They've held that view for some 1,200 years and a lot of excellent Popes have ruled the Catholic Church during that time but haven' t budged the "religion of peace" not even one little bit.  I hope he doesn't think God put him on earth to bring Muslims into his corral.

This pope has to be one of the most liberal and socialistic to date.  He's worrying about offending Muslims when Catholics and Christians around the world are still being persecuted.  What's wrong with this picture?

Speaking hypothetically, not to what the Pope did, were I planning a general outreach meal for a church here in Silicon Valley, I would probably serve chicken, turkey or fish. Muslims and Jews don't eat pork, and non-vegetarian Hindus don't eat beef. I might even do vegetarian dishes in a separate part of the kitchen using utensils and pots that have never been used for meat for strict vegetarian Hindus. If outreach is the purpose, then serving pork or beef would be incompatible with that purpose.

I understand the point you are making, but the Pope is supposed to be leading the Catholic church; not bowing to those who are trying to destroy it and persecuting its members.

He is feeding poor people, that is the criteria for getting food, so he uses food that does not interfere with their religion so they can eat.  That is what I would do, too, if I were he.
