 6 Reasons Pelosi’s Senate Obstruction Gambit On Impeachment Articles Is A Disaster

If Nancy Pelosi truly thought Democrats had made the case that Donald Trump was an "urgent threat" to America, she wouldn't be refusing to send the articles of impeachment against him to the Senate for a full trial.

Immediately after impeaching President Donald Trump for allegedly obstructing the House and abusing his power as president, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi obstructed the Senate’s constitutional obligation to hold an impeachment trial and abused her power by trying to steal power that belongs solely to the Senate under the Constitution. Pelosi told reporters on Thursday that she is in no rush to formally transmit to the Senate the articles of impeachment her party in the House had just approved. Here are six reasons Pelosi’s impeachment obstruction stunt undermines the entire basis of the Democrats’ effort to eject Trump from office.
1) After impeaching Trump for supposed obstruction of House, Pelosi moves to obstruct the Senate

Pelosi said she’ll wait to send over the articles until she finds out how the Senate will conduct the trial, which looks a lot like obstructing the Senate, given that the Constitution clearly states that the Senate has “the sole power to try all mpeachments.” The Constitutional process for impeachment is that the House impeaches and the Senate holds a trial to test the quality of the accusations and the guilt or innocence of the accused. Pelosi apparently wants to control the Senate process from her perch in the House, a power grab that looks a lot like an abuse of power.

4) Pelosi’s obstruction gambit shows her own lack of confidence in Schiff’s work product

Yeah, lack of an actual crime and supporting evidence does make it a vanishingly weak case.

5) Refusing to transmit impeachment articles undercuts Democrats’ claim that Trump is an “urgent threat” to America

It exposes the whole shampeachment as an unserious, bogus, campaign stunt. And the longer the delay, the more people recognize it as such.

Once again, the Dems' screwed up the timing of this whole shampeachment. It should have been delayed until late summer, so the impeachment vote or the delivery of the articles would happen somewhere between mid-September and late October. Now the Dems are faced with choosing among trying to stre-e-e-e-e-etch it all out, defeat in the Senate, or trying a serial-shampeachment game. Or the latter two in succession, of course.

If this is the GOP response Pelosi should milk every week she can out if.  The loudest whiniest voice is the weakest.  Pelosi looks in control while the GOP frets at the delay in throwing out the charges.  JMO

The House voted Thursday to adjourn for the holidays until Jan. 7, throwing into doubt when the Senate might be able to begin its trial, potentially pushing it further into an election year and threatening to deny Trump the satisfaction of a swift acquittal.

Pelosi's maneuver underscored her eagerness to maintain control over the process rather than turning over the reins to McConnell. It was also part of a Democratic effort to pressure Senate Republicans to allow testimony from key Trump administration officials who had defied subpoenas during the House's inquiry.

Every day the Senate doesn't have to waste addressing this impeachment hoax is another day the Senate can spend confirming judges.

You can bet a lot of these house Democrats who come from districts Trump carried will getting an earful over the holiday.  And not in a good way. 

Impeachment plays in Trumps favor.  It makes the Dims look petty and partisan.  The longer it plays out the better for Trump.
