US authorities have filed charges against two Russian nationals alleged to be running a global cyber crime organisation named Evil Corp.

It must be fun to be a Russian hacker.  "Evil Corp." a vanity license plate that reads (in Russian) "Thief", sports cars, lavish parties, and gobs of money all with the approval of your government, and no chance of actually being arrested by governments that object.

It's better than getting a Letter of Marque and Reprisal back in the old days (unless you really like swashbuckling and physical danger), but more or less the same gig -- privately funded attacks on your country's adversaries for private profit all with your government's approval -- just in cyberspace, rather than on the high seas.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.
