The much-anticipated Last Beatles Song, "Now and Then."

It doesn't "wow" me (the tune is kind of dreary) but it fits the Beatles sound.

Glenn Beck played it this morning and also explained how AI intelligence was able to separate Lennon's voice from the piano so that it could be made. 

I was hoping to be thrilled with another Beatle's tune.  IMHO it's terrible! I tried listening to it again, but I couldn't make it through ... you are correct @jmyrlefuller it just doesn't have the 'wow' factor at all.

I think at this point they acknowledged the well (if you will) of Lennon demos had run dry. I liked "Free as a Bird," loved "Real Love." But "Now and Then..." it was the bottom of the barrel and it showed.

It's not terrible. It has quite a bit of harmonic complexity. But it is, as I said, dreary. They can only do so much with the material and I can see why George called it rubbish.

I was never an avid Beatles fan either.  I like a select few of their songs and that's about it.

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." She used the original recording and just lip-synced.

That is just SOOO wrong!

Why  didn't she just re-release the original?

Unless maybe she sold the rights to someone,but if she did that,wouldn't she have to pay them to re-release the original?

The main reason is that she never recorded a music video for it, given that she was 13 years old at the time and it was 1958 when nobody was doing music videos yet (Scopitones wouldn't come around until the mid-60s). So when it came to making a music video for it, and she was almost 79 by then, her options were limited: she could either re-record the track, she could lip sync the original track, they could use trickery like AI and/or body doubles to recreate Lee's 13-year-old appearance, or she could just do an animated video or some other form where she didn't appear (as they've done with artists who've already died). She chose option B.

The original song's been in general release for decades.

Sadly,I am old enough to remember when she first hit the airwaves,and was warm for her form due to her amazing voice.

BTW,I have zero problems with her re-releasing the song. I was just curious about the way it was done.
