Smugglers are sawing through new parts of border wall

Mexican smugglers have cut through new portions of President Trump's border wall along the southern border using a commercially available power saw.

Using a popular cordless reciprocating saw that can be purchased at hardware stores for as little as $100, smugglers are creating openings large enough for people and drugs to pass through. They replace the blades on the saw, and it can cut through the wall's bollards in minutes.

Once someone cuts through a bollard at the base, which is only attached at the top and bottom, it can easily be pushed aside creating a hole large enough for an adult to squeeze through. Some of the areas that have been broken are in areas where construction crews have not installed electronic sensors that would detect the vibrations of the saws more quickly.

Multiple agents and administration officials pointed out that smugglers have found other ways to breach the wall — in particular, building a makeshift ladder to go over the fence instead of through it.

Definitely NOT good news.

I bet if they changed the law and made it where whoever cuts their way through could be or would be fired upon by border agents.... that would stop.

As I said along - The wall is nothing without the troops to man it.
Any moron can figure out how to get through an unguarded structure miles from any response.

@mystery-ak

That's why they make rifles and electricity. They could put up a cheap wire barricade with a slight list/tilt to it to keep game and humans from coming into accidental contact with a well with enough juice going to it to make your mama cry if you hit it,and have BP agents or US Military snipers in hides to deal with the people who just won't take no for an answer. Leave the bodies there to rot as a sign to newcomers what fate awaits them if they try to enter without permission.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!

I never cared for the "steel bullocks" type wall from the first time I saw it.

Why not an Israeli-style barrier like this?
How many are gonna saw through that?

Actually, if the law were changed to allow border patrol to fire upon anyone who tried to come across illegally, it would change things significantly.

Exactly.  You shouldn't be able to see through a security fence. Build a 30 foot SOLID concrete wall with barbed wire at the top and "man" the darn thing with drones.  Problem solved.  Once again it boils down to Congress approving the funds needed.

@IsailedawayfromFR

See the numbers on each slat?.  These are from sample wall tests, the prototypes that were tested for the best and strongest designs. These were cut with a cutting torch, not a saw --- you can see the dripped melted steel on the upper cut and the burned concrete.   The installed bollards have concrete with rebar in them and have much thicker steel.
