Coast Guard Cutter James to offload 27,000 pounds of cocaine, 11,000 pounds of marijuana at Port Everglades
About 28,000 pounds of cocaine and 11,000 pounds of marijuana worth a total of more than $377 million were seized by the US Coast Guard during 18 interdictions off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America, officials said.
“These drugs will not reach Main Street USA due to the efforts of the James crew and other Coast Guard cutters involved in these interdictions,†Capt. Jeffrey Randall, commanding officer of the cutter James, said at a press conference.
“The James crew conducted counter-drug operations with the cooperative efforts with regional partner nations, like Colombia, Costa Rica and alongside the agencies involved in Operation Martillo to stop the flow of illegal narcotics into the United States,†he added.
