merica last: Trump is still risking our soldiers' lives over Syrian oil

For those of us who would like to see a significant downsizing of the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, President Trump’s announcement that American troops were preparing to come home from Syria was a breath of fresh air. The announcement was long overdue: In an ideal world, the administration would have planned a withdrawal months before the siege of Baghouz began and executed it immediately after the dusty hamlet and last refuge was retaken from ISIS. But better late than never, right?

Not exactly. Trump’s promised Syria withdrawal seems to be a mirage.
According to Newsweek, the Pentagon is preparing to deploy half an Army armored brigade combat team — roughly the equivalent of 30 tanks and accompanying personnel — into northeast Syria to stand guard outside the oil fields. Trump has confirmed some of this reporting, tweeting today that “The Oil Fields discussed in my speech on Turkey/Kurds yesterday were held by ISIS until the United States took them over with the help of the Kurds. We will NEVER let a reconstituted ISIS have those fields.”

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

So can someone who supported this on the grounds that Trump was bringing our troops home from the Middle East please explain how they feel now?  Explain what was the reason to let the ISIS go after Trump lauded his victory for so long?  Let them go so that we can send more troops to protect the oil field?

And what of all the citizens that lost their life?  No value right?  What about the citizens who will loose their lives to the ISIS that have been let go?

What was the purpose of the operation?  Other than to let Turkey, Russia and Iran push Kurds and Christians from their homes just to settle extremist Islamic refugee's?  For the benefit of who?  Putin, Erdogan, Iran?

Many years ago, according to earth scientist Bob, it was the French who developed these oil fields.  He also said the French used methods to cheat the Syrians from getting all the profit they should have had.  He does not recall when the French were pushed out of there.

And over the years how many people have died for oil?

Mark Esper:  Turkey's invasion of Syria is 'heading in the wrong direction'

Syria’s Changing Power Grid: What Turkey Wants
By Steven A. Cook, CFR Expert
December 21, 2018

The U.S. withdrawal from Syria removes the main obstacle to a Turkish campaign to eradicate Syrian Kurdish forces and could lead to a more dangerous phase of Syria’s civil war.

President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday announced that the approximately two thousand U.S. forces in northeastern Syria will leave immediately, now that the forces of the so-called Islamic State have been defeated. Trump’s announcement set off a scramble within the U.S. government to develop a plan for withdrawal, as well as a mixture of alarm and criticism from lawmakers of both parties. The regional jockeying for power will be intense; Russia, Iran, and the Syrian regime stand to gain the most.
Syria’s Chessboard

The president’s announcement betrays Washington’s primary partner on the ground, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which control nearly one-third of Syria. It leaves other regional allies, especially Israel, more vulnerable to Iran and Hezbollah, which have a presence in Syria. Without the United States in Syria, regional actors will depend on Russia to achieve their interests...…….
